  • Recently, I had a short convo with one of my closest friends, Shamima (who also happens to be one of my muses). She has these very rare moments where she second guesses her style choices, which is baffling to me at times because this woman is perfect in all aspects of life. Well, she may not see it that way, but I can never let up on how amazing she is. Anyway, so this British beauty sparked another look in my head.
One of the many things I love about her is her fearlessness. So many things have been thrown at her and she's faced them like a champ. I figured she deserves to put on a badass outfit, with a hint of sophistication. Shamima, you rock my world, girl.

Look #2 is inspired by my second crush. It was my first school crush. No, it wasn't a classmate, it was a teacher. I was unfortunate to find myself in the 5th grade without my best friends; they were assigned to a different classroom next door. However, the first day of school totally made up for it. There she was, the Norwegian goddess - Idunn. The prettiest and the youngest teacher of the lot. And she was Nordic completely, stereotypical features of a girl from up north. I believe she was in her early to mid 20s boasting her teaching credentials.
Idunn (not her real name, of course) was vibrant and always eager to help her kids. It didn't take me too long to try to get on her good side. There was once this social studies trivia competition for all the fifth-graders at school. She went around, one desk after another, asking us random questions to answer. In one particular question, which fell upon me to face, caught her off guard. What I mean is she wasn't expecting me to answer the question correctly. I was a geography nut in my youth so confidence was not lacking. She asked what the capital of Norway was. I answered Oslo, to her amazement she paused. Then, she followed up with the smile and said, "I'm impressed." I had won her over that day. I wish you could see me smirk right now.

I'm sticking with yesterday's post on that challenge theme. Not really into competition unless it has something to do with sports but this is just, well, fun. Today's occasion is getting ready for a flight, with a must-have item being a chambray shirt. Keeping a few things in mind, you'll be on a plane so the look has to be comfortable. This look was also a bit inspired by the character Lena, played by Katherine Moening, on the show Ray Donovan. I love her wardrobe on that show.

This is, in no way, inspired by Beyonce. It's just her song, which technically means...Okay, fine. It's inspired by her, but more to do with the song. However, I like The Weeknd's cover of the song better. Regardless, it's a very sexy song. So who's been drankin? You've been drankin'? Get hood wit it.

Alright, it seems I'm still in the Oscars mode. With only three hours of sleep last night, so I could watch the Academy Awards, please forgive me if this isn't all that you hoped for. On a side note, I've really been attracted to the latest from Givenchy.

There are a couple of colleagues of mine who sport more blazers and sport coats than anyone else on the floor. They may not wear it every day but when they do, they look every bit of that "boss lady" image. A confident and commanding presence doesn't always have to be intimidating. It can also be inspiring and showered with admiration. More importantly, with figures to boast, it's always sexy to see a woman in control.

Okay so life happened. It's been much too long since the last post. I try not making this blog about me and more about the wonderful ensembles. It's about the women who inspire me. It's about the gentlemen I want to help. I know it's been several months. If I had a wife, she would have given birth to our first child by now.

Being a full time fashion/tech journalist in Dhaka has taken up most of my time. My day job, if you will, keeps me in check. Seems like most of my focus, 75% of it, is all in my work. That's wrong, it shouldn't be like that. Last night, as I was sitting in my place of serenity, I realized I was neglecting the one thing that got me started. This. This style blog of mine. If I am able to spend my off hours watching films (my first love and passion) and TV shows, why wouldn't I be able to take 15 minutes putting together a look for all of you?

It's what I do best, and I've always wanted to share that with the rest of the world. Mind you, this is only a taste of what I do. I'd prefer to work with individuals in person, of course. No apologies this time though. I don't feel I need to. Most of you would understand, most of you don't even care. You're here for one thing and one thing only. These looks and the stories behind them. Well, hello world. I'm back.

Today's look is about a woman I know that takes life with a certain sexy, kick-ass attitude. In Arabic, her name means "morning". In Hebrew, "oath" or "promise." She happens to be one hell of a woman. I thought it would be appropriate to make my first post, after a long wait, with her in mind. I'd like to think we have a special connection. It's like two Apple devices in sync; we just click and reminisce about the 90s. Then, there's the regular sniffing each other's necks because we're intoxicated with one another's fragrances like two in-heat animals. Was that too much? Yeah. It was. Anyway, yes, it's winter but the sun tends to creep in from time to time. And here is what is produced.
