It's a chilly day outside. An early afternoon meeting takes place. I walk into a popular cafe with superb premium caffeinated beverages. Looking as GQ as possible, I welcome a handsome young couple to join me at a table.

ME: Good afternoon. It's a pleasure meeting you.
MAN: Same here. Nice meeting you too.

[I shake both the hands of the gentleman and the lady's.]
[We all take our seats. I sit on the opposite side of the lovely couple.]
[The drinks are ordered and soon come to our table.]

ME: So how shall we begin --
MAN: Well, hey. Listen, I hate to be so forward but I know this other stylist, from a cousin of mine. I hate to be so forward but 7,000? I mean the guy I know only charges 4,000. Couldn't you possible drop the price a little lower?
WOMAN: That is a huge difference. Why do you charge so much, while others are clearly offering their services at a lower range.

[I sit there for a couple of seconds. I know what they are doing. I look at him, then her, and then back at him]
[I smile. I stretch out my arm to expose my wrist watch]

ME: You're trying to haggle, yes? How much do you think this watch costs?

[The young man leans over to spot the brand's name]

MAN: Well, that's an Omega. I'm sure it's quite expensive. I mean it's one of the best.
ME: Well, it's one of the best of its class. I rather be on top of the hill wearing Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, or Vacheron Constantin. But I'm not there am I? For a quality watch, you must pay a reasonable high price. It's justified - my service...is justified. Now, if he is offering you a service at a price to your liking, then so be it. Go for it.

[I pull my arm back and place it to its original position]

ME: I believe my site explains thoroughly what my service is all about. In fact, within in the content of my A Manifesto page states that my ultimate goal is to take you to a point where you no longer need my assistance. I'm not just updating your wardrobe or telling you yes or no. It's not just a look for whatever event. It's an experience. I feed you knowledge to better yourself. You don't need me and I don't need you. My service is not a necessity. It's, to be honest, a luxury. I love fashion and fashion has become my life. I'm not going to ask how much you make simply because it is rude and not the gentlemanly thing to do. What I can do is assume that your salary is quite comfortable. Especially, when you can drive around in a car like that.

[I nod my head towards the car without looking.]
[The couple look over to the car and then back at me.]

    MAN: How did you--
ME: I pay attention to detail, sir. Plus, there is no one else here besides the employees. I'm sure the guy behind the counter is a nice fellow, but his wallet isn't fat enough to own that car. I am a man who conducts his business morally, ethically, and legally. My integrity will never be questioned so I am always reasonable and honest. I demand that honesty in return. With that said, it stays where it stays.

[As I turn to the lady, she's already smiling.]

    ME: You seem impressed?
WOMAN: Umm...well, I have to say. I am.
ME: Good. That means I'm doing my job.

[I turn back to the gentleman. I offer my hand for an accord]
[The man smiles and offers the hand shake.]

MAN: Alright, let's do this. I have to apologize for earlier.
ME: You have nothing to be sorry for. I have to make a call, I'll be back in a couple.

[I get up and excuse myself and make my way out the door.]
[As I walk away...the two speak to each other in a foreign language]

WOMAN: Well, seems like you were charmed.
MAN: Me? You were the one smiling at him the whole time!

I walked away with a smirk on my face.

One of my best friends (who's now a newlywed) is a bag freak. She mostly goes school girl in a candy store when it comes to Coach bags. Regardless, she's a collector. I love her to death but her bag fetish simply makes me nod my head. Here a collection of party bags that will possibly play an important and winning roll with your outfit.
It's all about the bright accents, leopard print, metallic touches and or baroque to aim for. Gander at these (from Glamour.com) bags for some much needed inspiration.
    Lana Clutch - LK Bennett
Sequin Box Bag - French Connection
    Ruffle Front Clutch - Topshop
Valentino Rose and Feather Clutch - Net-A-Porter
Judith Leiber Crystal Embellished Clutch - Net-A-Porter
Silver Beaded Pouch - Miss Selfridge
F&F Black Lace Clutch - Tesco
Handle with care, ladies. Big things come in small packages...a whole lot of glamor.

    - Gentleman Tip of the Day -
Back to basics, again. Gentleman, here is a quick tip and some knowledge about shirt collars. There are ones you are accustomed to but a little knowledge with a taste of history will keep you sharp.

    • Wing Collar - the points of the collar stand up and then flatten out horizontally. It's typically worn for strictly evening formal wear.
    • Button-Down Collar - A visible button holds down each collar in place. It's not the most popular one but if you do have one of these shirts, never wear them without buttoning down the collars!
    • Pin Collar - A hole in each collar allows for the insertion of a metal bar (usually a gold bar) that spans the spread and keeps the points in place. Think of the pin collar as the French cuffs for the collars. Remember, if you do choose to wear this type of shirt, the tie should go over the bar not under it.
    • Tab Collar - a fabric band spinning the spread holds each point in place. Once again, the tie is supposed to over it to keep the fabric hidden.
    • Club Collar - The points of the collar is not pointy at all. It's small and rounded. This is usually for school boys and strange older men so let's stay away from these, shall we?
    • Turn Down Collar - This is the regular collar you are familiar with. The majority of shirts in your closet, if not all, are turn down collars. The beauty of this style of shirt is that there are variations of size and spread of the points. French collars, Italian collars, and so on. Long, short, and everything in the middle. The safe way to go is take the path you know.
Hope this has given you a more detailed perspective. It may be a little detail but it's significant enough to stay stylish. Let's do this the right way, gentlemen.

I was having a walk down memory lane today in a conversion with a long time childhood friend of mine - he's pretty much family. He asked me a question that had me wondering for a bit and resulted in the same response I always have. He asked me did I ever think we would be where we are 10 years ago. I simply responded in saying, "Hell no!" Isn't that how it always is? Or at least the majority of the time? The thing is it makes us really appreciate of how long we have come and how wonderfully we have matured, well, for some of us.
If all of this hadn't happened to me (leaving California in 2005), I wouldn't have had completely fallen in love with fashion. Perhaps, it would have never really happened; everything does happen for a reason. Looking at the world from a different perspective - from the eyes in a 3rd world country - really makes you realize the beauty of it all. Some of us have gotten married or already have kids. Some of us are still trying to find ourselves in this crazy but beautiful world. Most of us are still trying to figure out what our purpose is in this world.
Another friend of mine asked me how are you still single? She explained to me why she had asked me that specific question. It's a question I have heard countless times in my 20s. It is not simply be circumstance or by chance. It is to the fact that I choose to be single. I have become numb to the whole idea of 'being with someone' or having a 'significant other'. My purpose is what I am doing at this very moment. I would have never thought I'd be truly happy (nearly complete) on being a personal stylist and reaching out to every single reader. I truly care for people and this world so my aim is to save the world, one smile at a time (click on the "A Manifesto" tab on the explore bar for a better idea). Who would have thought something so superficial as fashion can make a person feel better about themselves without indulging into ignorance. It's how I approach a client or friend that makes fashion a successful tool to make them feel and look great.
I love helping people and I mean, genuinely. The type of selfless help in which nothing is expected in return. I put 1 and 1 together and this what I love doing now. Of course, I have to make profit but my true and ultimate dream is to be a recognized figure who helped anyone out regardless of their economic background.

Apart from the full set of lips along with a beautiful smile, I find that a woman's neck is the second most seductive part of her body. This means when wearing jewelery, it is very important how you wear them. We're covering the neck area with necklaces and know which ones to wear. The problem with people is they get blinded by the glamor that celebrities put on and think it's perfectly fine to wear what they are wearing. They couldn't be more wrong. There are certain guidelines to follow when putting on a necklace and trying to attempt an attractive look.

    • For short and or petite women - stay away from long necklaces and long earrings this will only diminish your height and figure. It completely drags your look down. Not flattering at all.
    • For curvy women - stay away from delicate pieces of jewelry all together. They only get lost in your larger frame. Necklace wise, the thicker the better but not so much where to you are only making yourself look larger. Go long and not wide.
    • Round faces or short, heavy necks - try longer type necklaces. The longer it is (around 24 in. or so), the better; you want to divert the attention away from your chin. To add a bit more style to it you can always add more layers as in another necklace or look for multi-strand necklaces.
    • Long thin neck or short in height - it's the exact opposite of the frame above. Put on the shorter length necklaces along with the shorter length earrings.
    • A wide open neckline or strapless top - the usual 16 inch choker, 17-19 inch princess length necklace, or 20-24 inch matinee length if your neck is larger, puts on the best and flattering look.
    • Button-down or simple t-shirt - the 16-18 inch necklace with a pendant is the best fit.
It's also OK to just have all silver jewelry or all gold but nowadays it's the best to mix the solids. More importantly, always consider what type of clothing you are wearing before you choose out your accessories. You have to have the entire outfit to actually worry about what goes around your neck.

    - Gentleman Tip of the Day -
Your MVP in the wardrobe: the classic white collard shirt. Not only does it match with pretty much anything you put on from jeans to trousers (flat-front dress pants), it is also your franchise player. Most men make the common and huge mistake of not appreciating white collared shirts. Why? As kids, we were attracted to color and design, we wanted superheros on our shirts. As we get older, we begin to realize having a graphic tee are not the only thing to wear. In fact, those t-shirts should be worn in the most casual occasions. To show true appreciation for the classic white collared shirt is to value the make. Before being swindled by a salesman simply because it's a higher cost or it has a popular brand or designer label on it, there are certain check points to consider before making a purchase. I comment that this item in your closet is the MVP simply because everyone else on the "team" works around it. Look at it as the sun and all the planets revolving around it. You cannot, I repeat, cannot, do without this article of clothing in your wardrobe. This should never be treated as just another white shirt.

    1. The Collar - A high-end or just a great quality shirt has a firm collar. The collar must be smooth and crisp with no wrinkles. If you see a shirt that isn't even off the rack and its wrinkles are visible on the collar, it means the shirt will wear out very soon.
    2. The Collar Tabs - These I'm sure you have noticed are found underneath the collar points. They either come in plastic or metal. This is a sign of premium quality or of a worth-while purchase. The reason for these are simple, it's suppose to maintain the stiffness of the collar. Those little slits in the back to hold these tabs are stitched perfectly in order to keep the stiffness without compromising the quality of the collars.
    3. The Thread Count - A premium shirt has a thread count of around and over 200. Don't worry though, you don't have to bust your butt of trying to find a shirt with that certain amount of count. You are perfectly fine with a count of 140 and more. This is, of course, regarding to the durability of your shirt.
    4. The Single-Stitched Seams - On most shirts there will be two-stitched side seams on your shirt. When you only see a single-stitch, that means you are dealing with a grade "A" premium shirt. These are quite rare so grab onto those and hold them dear to your heart.
    5. The Aligned Patterns - Another little detail to look out for is that the seams are stitched in a flawless pattern. This, again, is a sign of a high-end shirt. The illusion here is that it should show that the entire shirt is a single way patterned shirt. It has to seem as if it's one entire flowing pattern of fabric throughout.
Do not dare to avoid or neglect that beautiful timeless fashion called the classic white collared shirt. Look out for these main points of that shirt and you will be giving your wardrobe a trophy that tops all. This is our answer to women's "little black dress". Either with jeans or dress pants (flat-fronts), this should always be on top of your list - with pocket or no pocket in front.
*Side note: The best way to maintain that high-end quality is to take it to the cleaners instead of washing it on your own.*
