  • Recently, I had a short convo with one of my closest friends, Shamima (who also happens to be one of my muses). She has these very rare moments where she second guesses her style choices, which is baffling to me at times because this woman is perfect in all aspects of life. Well, she may not see it that way, but I can never let up on how amazing she is. Anyway, so this British beauty sparked another look in my head.
One of the many things I love about her is her fearlessness. So many things have been thrown at her and she's faced them like a champ. I figured she deserves to put on a badass outfit, with a hint of sophistication. Shamima, you rock my world, girl.

I am going to leave this story to the imagination. She's been in my head for a while so it was only appropriate. Just know that she is sexy, smart, talented and everything dreams are made of. Like Trey Songz be sayin', "I've seen your Instagram, but you look better up in person!"

Alright, so I'm back from a very long hiatus. I've used all the excuses I can make, putting my day job in front as my number one priority. I have been absent from blogging for too long, and I did have plenty of downtime to continue posting. I decided, after seeing others follow their passion, to get back on the horse. I've started vlogging again as well (click here) because I'm at that stage of my life where I can focus on both my day job and passions in film and fashion. Technically, my job (as a fashion/tech journalist) coincides with my passions, so it's not far off. Ultimately, there really isn't a good excuse.
In other words, I'm back to doing what I love and I hope everyone will support me along the way. I know you guys will because some of you kept asking me to blog again. Well, I'm back. This time, for good.
The title suggests something along the lines of freedom and openness. This is an outfit for a quick getaway. In the spirit of summer, it's light and sexy. The initial look was somewhat inspired by the Pia Mia video to her song "Let's Do It Again". The song had been on repeat for an hour or so on my iTunes. Ridiculous. I pictured this look on a young lady making her way down a floral-lined pathway to a secluded beach. Not getting in the water of course. Perhaps for a brunch and a gossip session with her girlfriends?

The wonderful folks from Vegas.com picked up on my style blog and wondered if I would be able to share a look that would fit the occasion for a swanky place like Rose. Rabbit. Lie. at The Cosmopolitan Las Vegas. Now, with a little free time on my hand, I finally got to tinkering and place out, not one, but two looks. It's basically 20s inspired looks that would be appropriate for a place like Rose. Rabbit. Lie. and I immediately thought of my friend Sabrina - 20s fashion happens to be her favourite. I hope I do it justice with my version of a 20s inspired look.
There's plenty of inspirations to go by, like the recent magnificent costume job on The Great Gatsby, but I tried to steer slightly off track for obvious reasons. Look 1 is more on the elegant side, blurring the lines between conservative sophistication and seductive sensuality. Look 2 has more of the wild fun and youth vibe. Finally, a shout out to Jennifer who actually chose my blog in the first place. Thank you!

This particular young lady was the biggest pain in the ass, which turned out to be one hell of a roller coaster ride. She had a terrible habit of lying and deceiving, yet constantly kept the fun alive. She's one of those boy-crazy, "all about me" gals. However I must say, I had the most mischievous accounts of my life with this ex. She was a horrible addiction that I am glad to be rid of. Well, somewhat. It doesn't help to know that I bonded quite well with the rest of her family.
I can get into all kinds of details, but that's reserved for my journal. Let's just say there's plenty of action from both parties that aren't something to be proud of. Mainly hers. No reason to villainize her now, she's grown out of it I would like to think. Through her many transformations, I always have that image of her from the first time we met. And as ridiculous as it sounds, we've become good friends over the years, regardless the countless headaches.
