A butterfly gracefully flowing through the concrete chaos. Funny thing, this outfit wasn't inspired by a certain look or beautiful woman. It's inspired by an actual butterfly. I was on my way to work, dealing with the usual noise pollution, alongside all the other toxic junk we inhale in the city. And in an instant, I saw a beautiful butterfly fly in front of me, swerving through traffic. There's something about watching a butterfly in flight, time seems to pause for a second; you tend to fall back and take a breath. Beauty and grace.

Nope, Tyrese ain't got nothin' to do with this post. Good album though. I'm not really sure why I've never thought of putting together more looks inspired by my friend Minci. This woman is gorgeous and her wardrobe recently has been stunning. From her hairstyles to the choice of heels, she is one stylish and proud, black woman. In fact, whatever M wears reminds me a lot of the outfits Jessica Pearson (Gina Torres) sports on the show Suits, just a bit more relaxed and a tad sexier. I've always admired how M carried herself, so self-assured and never the one to involve herself in petty drama. She's always above that; quite graceful, actually. Even though those are memories from years ago, I'm pretty damn sure not much has changed.
I'm still kicking myself for never having the courage to ask her out when I had the chance. Love you, M, thanks for the inspiration.

Recently, I had a short convo with one of my closest friends, Shamima (who also happens to be one of my muses). She has these very rare moments where she second guesses her style choices, which is baffling to me at times because this woman is perfect in all aspects of life. Well, she may not see it that way, but I can never let up on how amazing she is. Anyway, so this British beauty sparked another look in my head.
One of the many things I love about her is her fearlessness. So many things have been thrown at her and she's faced them like a champ. I figured she deserves to put on a badass outfit, with a hint of sophistication. Shamima, you rock my world, girl.

Alright, so I'm back from a very long hiatus. I've used all the excuses I can make, putting my day job in front as my number one priority. I have been absent from blogging for too long, and I did have plenty of downtime to continue posting. I decided, after seeing others follow their passion, to get back on the horse. I've started vlogging again as well (click here) because I'm at that stage of my life where I can focus on both my day job and passions in film and fashion. Technically, my job (as a fashion/tech journalist) coincides with my passions, so it's not far off. Ultimately, there really isn't a good excuse.
In other words, I'm back to doing what I love and I hope everyone will support me along the way. I know you guys will because some of you kept asking me to blog again. Well, I'm back. This time, for good.
The title suggests something along the lines of freedom and openness. This is an outfit for a quick getaway. In the spirit of summer, it's light and sexy. The initial look was somewhat inspired by the Pia Mia video to her song "Let's Do It Again". The song had been on repeat for an hour or so on my iTunes. Ridiculous. I pictured this look on a young lady making her way down a floral-lined pathway to a secluded beach. Not getting in the water of course. Perhaps for a brunch and a gossip session with her girlfriends?
