  • I don't wear sunglasses much (very rarely, actually) because my eyes do a lot of talking. They also keep silent in many moments.
Body language is amazingly important. A gentleman, even a lady, can capture the audience within an instant through body language. The outstanding posture, the subtle smile, and alluring eyes are all the factors that can convert a bland crowd to jaw dropping crazed cult followers. You can sit there, upright, passing glances for a second at a time throughout the night to create admirers. They will sit there hating to stare from time to time your way. They will think to themselves how commanding your presence is; you are wearing the clothes and not the other way around. Your impeccable taste in your clothes will show through the way you wear them. Keeping the basics in mind (tailored and fitted clothes with complimenting colors), the importance of body language only makes your appearance more prominent than others in the room.
Remember, I am not pointing towards things that are loud. I am pointing to things that others are itching to know. Your ability to sit still with your full attention to someone as your lips are sealed only draws the audience closer. It seems as if you are ready to shout at full volume; a bomb waiting to burst. But it doesn't. The tease continues throughout the day and or night. You should be able to walk into an event and make people talk for all the right reasons by simply smiling (no teeth showing). You may not realize it but when you show your teeth by smiling is a full frontal exposed sign of your vulnerability. Save that for someone important. It's the same as not shaking someone's hand firmly. You don't have to talk to show someone how you are feeling so remember to keep every single movement as a premeditated statement. Don't be too eager to express your opinion.
Making love is an art, sex is lust in pure of our human nature. Any animal can mate, but only the sophisticated can make love. Undressing someone with your eyes is much more seductive than the physical act. The "3S Effect" is exactly that. Sexy, sophisticated, and smooth with a touch of class.

    - Gentleman Tip of the Day -
Have you been paying attention to your eau de toilette? Let's do a quick preview and review of colognes, gentlemen. There are a few things to note when you want to start off 2011 in the category of body odor. First, there are 3 points to be had:

    • Choose your cologne based on the event or place you will be using it in. Work, date, formal, and play (athletics).
    • Last year's ingredients to have was vetiver and bergamont. This year lean towards the violet and musk.
    • A new cologne (as you should use regularly) is a great way to press the "refresh" button to your style.
Here are a few selected colognes to consider purchasing the next time you go out to replace your old bottles. (From Askmen.com)
    For the office:
Atelier Cologne Trefle Pur ($165 USD)

Tom Ford Azure Lime ($190 USD)

    D&G 11 La Force ($90 USD)

    For Date Night:
Van Cleef & Arpels Midnight in Paris ($115 USD)

Dsqaured2 He Wood Rocky Mountain ($59 USD)

    For Formal Event:
    Halston Man ($55 USD)

Clive Christian No. 1 For Men ($850 USD Most expensive cologne in the world)

    For Casual/Sport:
Jo Malone Sweet Lime & Cedar ($105 USD)

    Burberry Sport ($72 USD)

With the exception of the Clive Christian cologne, you can find any of these colognes on any place in the world. You just have to know the right places (or stores) to head to. These colognes will be a great addition to your collection of fragrances. And gentlemen, when I say collection, I hope you know I mean only a few and not several colognes in your counter.

As I was watching an older episode of Mad Men, I realized (again) that there is no such thing as "starting fresh". There is only moving on.
Unless, your employers are the CIA, NSA, or MI6, your past really can't be erased. We make the mistakes we make and must move on. There's a difference between starting from scratch on a fashion project and starting fresh in life. You can move to a different place  - meet new people - but that does not change who you really are. It's, essentially, just moving on. There is nothing wrong with that either. No one is going to judge you for letting go of the past. The only time you should refer to your past is from learning from your mistakes, nothing more.
In the world of fashion, it's the same idea. For example, this years Fall 2011 Menswear line up had its ups and downs. To be honest, the only labels that stood out for me was Gucci, Zegna, and Hermès. The other labels had their highlights but can't say I enjoyed their entire line.

    ~ Ladies First ~
New York may be one of the fashion capitals of the world (if not thee capital), but you cannot knock on the smooth and kick back style of the west coast, mainly Los Angeles. Given that we have been seeing the fluctuation in the temperature dropping and then climbing its way back up in an already wacky winter, places like L.A. can be the perfect place to be. I'm a SoCal boy for life and I can tell you (for those outside of California) ladies will feel more than comfortable in the "lazy" look and still look stylish.

Here is Emma Roberts sporting a vintage rock tee, skinny denim, and a sweet little cardigan. Yes, it's that simple to look good and comfortable at the same time.

Here is Whitney Port at a fashion party in L.A. One very important keynote here, sequins and large paillettes are a year round look now. A little sparkle is a huge DO!

Megan Fox? Yes, please. Here she is down in L.A. rocking a over-the-knees socks 'n' shorts. Keep this look in mind when the sun decides to stay on a regular basis!

Please DO copy Lauren Conrad (once again in the streets of LA) with the striped tee, skinny denim and tan accessories. This is very "off-duty chic".

I've always been a fan of the very beautiful Kerry Washington. Here is a snapshot of her at the Sundance Film Festival. Looking very chic without going all out with the boots, jeans, and the military blazer.

Remember, ladies, it really doesn't take much to look good; there isn't too much effort to keep it light. Keep it cool and keep it stylish. (The rest of the DOs and DONTs can be found on Glamour.com)

All those beautiful colors on clothes, the pretty faces we see on magazines and on the big screen, are created by more than just one factor.
One of the most important factors happens to be the art of photography. I will not sit here and type along confessing my passion for photography. In fact, I'm a novice when it comes to that. What I can actually do with already taken photos is completely different. The faces we see today and the trends we follow are because of these wonderful taken photographs. What does this have to do with fashion and or lifestyle? Isn't it obvious? We would have no Vogue, GQ, or Details and so on. Photographs evoke a certain emotion out of us. Some express their ideas or emotions through an image without the use of words. Seeing is believing some will say. Let's face it, nowadays, that's just not true. There have been so many images (mainly on celebs) that have been edited to be more pleasing to the eye. There have also been some epic Photoshop fails as well. Let's not get into that. The works of art we see in photographs cannot be mimicked by painting the same image and vise versa. That's a unique beauty of a camera that relies on traditional film roll.
What I appreciate are images that are not related to celebrities but more to the joy and dedication to a more natural type. A type where glamor is seen through the lens of a camera. A type of glamor that doesn't need editing, only preparing. Sure, there are little tweaks here and there to make the picture perfect, but nothing to the extreme. For some it's a hobby, to others it's an entire career. The camera plays a pivotal role to the fashion world. It's how the images are portrayed to the general public; it's not just through word of mouth. It brings me great joy when I see that type of appreciation to photography in every day life. One of my good friends has, I believe, a bright future in the field of photography. When you see talent, you know it. He and his business partners are sure to be a huge hit for the masses. And I know when I get to that "stage" he'll be my "go-to" photographer - the first choice on the list. *Short little update*
If you do not know already, the fashion shows for Fall 2011 are already underway. It's a bit difficult catching up on all of them (I'm not complaining, I love it) when I have to deal with wedding stuff for the entire week. I have to attend two weddings within a span of a week. It's a bummer, but it's family.
It becomes difficult to spend time on this blog because of it so I'll try my best to dish out new material. I hope all is well with everyone. Enjoy your week, people and stay warm!

This is another evolved state of my blog. I had to do some rethinking and in order to continue the lovable content on this blog, there are small changes. This happens to be one of them. I felt this needed to be a bit more dynamic. That's why on my last post was an entirely different post all together - no tips for either ladies or men. This is not to say that there will be no longer of the kind of advice in fashion or lifestyle. I am simply devoting each post to one topic over all.
On one single post, you will find something fun and on the next post you may find the advices and tips on fashion and lifestyle. With that said, let's continue with this new trend for this blog.

This may be a very mean thing to do, especially with men and women out there freezing their butts off while trying to go on with business as usual. Some of us are yearning for the passing of this horrid winter for the sun to bask in its glory once again. What's next? Spring, of course. In the fashion world, it always has to be looking forward. I'm talking about how even now we have a Fall 2011 preview. Since autumn is several months away, here is a preview of what you will be expected to aim for in this coming Spring.

Gentlemen, get ready to indulge yourselves. Some things to consider, no, things to do and purchase for your Spring wardrobe.

    Tobacco brown suit (not linen)
    1. Linen is good. Sorry, great. One thing in love about spring is sporting a linen suit. I have always been fond and love the fabric. It's light and does not suffocate. Three things to keep in mind: First, the new linen styles are in a darker color; it takes a break from that beige and white we are used to. It is darker and easier to wear; meaning, it's dressier. Second, don't be afraid of the wrinkles. That is what linen is for, the casual yet stylish way to dawn a fabric. Finally, these linen suits are mainly for that casual feel, but you can actually use it for the same in a more semi-formal or dressier way. Just makes sure to sport a pocket square and a dress watch.
    2. Ties galore. If you are going to have a tie around your neck, make sure they come in deeper contrast colors in plaid. It's refreshing and colorful yet can be used in a professional setting. Given the shirt you are wearing is important, the aim in the ties is for a darker and richer shades of the colors you wish to wear.
    3. More on the microcheck. The microcheck shirt is a miniature version of the gingham style shirt. The checks on the shirt are so small that from even a short distance they seem to be hidden. It's as if the checks aren't there in the first place. Although, the distinction of the checks can be made once you have worn it with the right tie, vest, or jacket.
    4. Kid Kudi
    5. Double-breasted. One thing I love about fashion is that it will always pay its respect to the past styles. This spring you will see a mad amount of double breasted jackets, sweaters, coats, and cardigans in stores. There is no one-way to wear the double breasted style. Check out Kid Kudi to the right. He's got the jacket buttoned up with a v-neck tee.
    6. Weave around your waist. For the casual moments, it's great to have the woven belts. This accessory is for your weekend chinos and jeans. If you are brave enough to make a statement trying on a contrasting color from your pants. For example, light-color belt with a darker wash jeans and vice versa.
    7. Socks that make your shoes shine? Yes, you read correctly. It's great that you have put an expensive investment in some nice calf-skin leather shoes. The thing is you can make eyes drawn even more down to your shoes with a contrasting colored socks. Gray pants and light-brown shoes with lavender dress socks. Delicious.
    8. For this spring, try and sport pocket squares as much as possible. The solid white pocket square is here to stay, but this spring go for the poka-dots and stripes in cotton or silk. They come in all different colors, in solid or two-toned. You will never run out of combinations.
    9. The cool thing to do is not always wear jeans. You can still put on a pair of different colored chinos. It's not all just about khaki. That's the whole point of spring. Be colorful and fun and rejoice that the freezing winter just ended.
    10. Here is a solid statement. Considering your skin tone, dawning a tobacco brown suit is a plus. It's a lighter shade of brown so it's not that much of an eye-sore. If worn with a pale blue shirt, the light brown will be darn right beautiful.
    11. Again with the contrasting! It's always good to sport different color suits with contrasting colored accessories. Although, this spring is asking you to be playful with many different colors outside the professional work place. But when it comes to rich blue suits, always compliment them with equally rich brown accessories. Shoes, ties, and bags. Again, a couple of things to keep in mind: A brown leather bag only gets better with age. Second, I couldn't say it any better, "Brown dress shoes should be dark, like the color of coffee with just a touch of cream." - GQ
    12. All the wonderful and comfortable polo shirts. I didn't realize until several years ago how much I loved polo shirts. Fitted ones of course, not those over-sized embarrassments. The polos in discussion here is the 1950s inspired that is marked by a striped collar and a knit waistband.
    13. Loafers, I simply love them on casual occasions. Buying loafers are a sign that you don't take everything seriously. There is a certain way to buy loafers, though. It depends on your liking. You have to first ask yourself if the loafers are closer to boat-shoes or lace-ups. Finding the right pair is the one that is a slim and elegant silhouette (the design or stitching) and the leather looks like it'll look better with a simple shine rather than a tough breaking-in. Rock these shoes without socks. This is can be used with both suits or just a weekend hang out. You just have to make sure it is the appropriate style in order to wear it with a suit or just casual clothes (in chinos).
    14. Kid Kudi wearing the khaki dress shirt.
    15. Finally, rock the most versatile dress shirt this spring. The new breed of khaki shirts have a certain sophistication in them that will perfectly fine with the rest of your dress shirts in your closet. You don't even have to be dressed up to wear the khaki shirt either, same goes for the ties. You can easily flow it with some nice jeans and appropriately accessorize while you're at it.
There is plenty to discover this spring and these are only the key factors to aim for this coming season. I know it's a couple of months away but for some it's sooner. These are definitely some things to look forward to while we try to keep warm for the remainder (or second half) of the winter. As for now, let's stick to our stylish winter wardrobe and keep it GQ. The entire list can be found on GQ Spring Style 2011. *the links are in gray.
Just one last tip for the spring, do not be afraid to go with these points mentioned above. Spring is about colors, it's about welcoming the sun back. It's about having fun, just don't be too loud. You want to stay cool without shouting it to the rest of the world.

I never paid too much attention to television shows before as much as I do now. Growing up in the 90s, we were used to watching our comedy sitcoms. They were the reigning kings of televisions well into the early 21st century.
Nowadays, cable networks are pumping out HBO production level shows. Film stars are getting into the small screen and with much success. There are even struggling actors who are making a name for themselves with these hit shows. Where as in the past, they were 'nobodies'. The new shows we have been watching for the past couple of years have gotten addicting - for a good reason.
I decided to put out my top 5 stylish leading men on television. The actors playing the characters are fantastic, but we want to look at what each of the characters bring into the style department.

#5 - Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) [Gossip Girl] - It's that arrogant "bad boy" on the upper east-side that starts off the list. I don't think there has been a single episode (not including the first 2 seasons) where I didn't like what Chuck was wearing. I'm not a religious follower of this show as the other ones on this list, but I have found myself (mainly because of the fashion and lifestyle) addicted to it recently. I have to say, I can't wait for the new episodes to come on by. Even better, Ed Westwick (the actor), is a stylish person off the sets as well.

#4 - Enoch "Nucky" Thompson (Steve Buscemi) [Boardwalk Empire] - The true glamor of the 1920s lives right through Nucky. His flawless ability to look angry and genuinely satisfied with his powerful position in Atlantic City is pure brilliance. This is possibly the best role of Buscemi's life and also one of the stylish characters to grace the small screen.

#3 - Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) [Burn Notice] - No secret here, I am a huge espionage/spy fan. This show, in my opinion, is better than the other espionage/spy/secret agent shows out there. I love a couple of others but this tops the cake in this genre. Mr. Westen is always wrapped around in the best designer clothing that is the perfect blend to Florida's Miami. Not to mention, he also kicks ass.

#2 - Don Draper (Jon Hamm) [Mad Men] - I am a huge sucker for vintage. Don Draper, now, has a huge cult following. The creators of this show has struck pure gold, especially with Jon Hamm as the lead. How the show came to be is actually very interesting and exaggerated, but I won't get into that now. He is a man's man and the women can't stay away. This alluring gentleman has all that he wants but also distances himself from the past. He's mysterious but in the eyes of others, a position any man would want. It's all about the 60s here and a wonderful glamorous projection of that decade. Simply awesome.

#1 - Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) [White Collar] - The ex-con artist turned FBI consultant is the topper on my list. Matt Bomer is the perfect actor for the role. The character is supposed to be the charming, debonair, and smooth criminal. His hint of old school and new school is my kind of style. In a way, it is my style. In many episodes, Neal actually mimics the 'Rat Pack' style of approach. He's a perfect package, he's Neal Caffrey.
The more exciting bit, more episodes from these shows to come!
