I had a couple of days of retail therapy and I have re-established the fact that I am very picky when it comes to my wardrobe. When it comes to other people's wardrobe, I am a total crack addict on style. Before any of that indulgence, I always make it very clear to everyone to remember that each purchase you make should be a smart investment. It should never be an impulse buy. It should be a constant reminder that you can wear a particular item well into the next season, even a couple of seasons down the line.
Just recently, I took part in MR PORTER's 'Style Clinic' which they provide from time to time. It's pretty much an opportunity, for one hour, to contact the experts online (through Facebook and Twitter). You can have any styling question and they will provide you with the best answer. They described, for gentlemen, what would be the most appropriate outfit to wear during a long plane ride (ie. Dhaka, BD to Vancouver, BC). I thought it was pretty much right on the dot. Since the summer is coming up, some of us are fortunate enough to travel while on vacation. The first thing that popped in my head was my friend Maz, guy likes to holiday...often. The main emphasis in the most recent session of the 'Style Clinic' was around the vacation/holiday theme. I thought this was a perfect opportunity to show you gentlemen an ideal outfit the men at MR PORTER described to have on a long flight. These are also items that can be worn over and over. Invest wisely!

1. Car Shoe - Driver shoes became very popular early last year and it is still favored now. Many of the major fashion houses have jumped on this popular wagon and put their own flavor to it. It's an alternative to the traditional loafers. The gentlemen at MP recommend this for the obvious reason, besides being stylish. It's crazy comfortable and it's easy to take off when you are going through the metal detectors. You want to wear this without socks; remember, you want to feel comfortable and socks will only be needed when the cabin lights dim and everyone starts nodding off.

2. Jeans or Chinos - Personally, I'm a jeans-guy (preferably slim-fit), but I will still share with you what I think would be a great choice for chinos. The thing to remember here is that you seriously do not, I repeat, do not have to purchase the most expensive denim on the rack. Just like everything else, it's all about fit and comfort. You aren't walking down the runway so again, remember you are making an investment. These jeans or chinos can go farther than wearing it on a long plane ride.

3. White Button Down or T-Shirt - This one is pretty simple. I hope there isn't any real confusion here. There aren't real rules here besides to keep in mind all button downs aren't formal. Go for the casual look - go for comfort.

4. Merino Wool Sweater - If you have never been on a plane ride, you should know it gets really cold up there. I don't mean the air outside, I mean inside the plane. It can get very chilly, if you don't have the proper layering.

5. Navy Unstructured Blazer - The final layer to the entire look. Easy to take off and put on. This is the only item that you will be holding on your arm when it is off. It adds that extra level of sophistication when it is on. And don't be afraid to keep it on while you are still in your seat on the plane. If you feel the cold creep in, it's the perfect thing to even out the temperature.

6. The Accessories - I've just added these to the rest of the look. These are things I'd be carrying with me throughout the journey. You also want to try and avoid wearing a wristwatch and or a belt. Keep in mind, those will only serve as a hassle when you are going through airport security. Fortunately for me, my jeans and trousers actually fit. And you always have your cell phone with you, if you want to keep your eye on the time. The Corgi socks were also recommended by MP for when the cabin lights are off.

Whoever said retail therapy is not an exercise is misinformed. Ladies, I am very much aware when it comes to walking for a long period of time from one store to the other - one market to another - trying not to lose your mind over the many desirable items in front of you. Burning calories, while fulfilling your therapy, is easy when you find yourself in a crowded and humid environment. It can be relaxing though...if you are around air conditioners. Much respect to women all over Asia who can wear what they wear and battle the shopping grounds in the terrible heat. I know some of you are still having to deal with the roller coaster weather trend and unable to enjoy what is supposed to be Spring. Hopefully, today's look makes you feel at ease.

No jokes here or even a hint at April Fools' Day. It's all about style and looking your best. I don't mess around when it comes to styling, ladies. Keeping you genuinely intrigued and happy, keeps me happy. Today's look can be a work outfit that can easily be used for an evening out. One of those lovely transitions from work to play. It's classy, sophisticated, and just a lovely look.
