  • There was a recent question in British GQ's Style Shrink section that sparked the idea for today's edition of GS. It's about a young gentleman, in his mid 20s, asking for advice on what to wear for his wedding come next summer. I did my best to answer and help the young lad, apparently GQ approves (click here to read). He's getting married to an Indian woman so he has chosen his Indian outfit for the traditional South Asian wedding, that's set. He was bothered on what to wear for the other two outfits; one for the civil wedding and one for the reception later on in the day. Keep in mind, it's always best to get your suit tailored and or made from scratch, choosing the fabrics and style. It's much more affordable and you'll like you've spent thousands on it.
Now, next summer is quite a while away so today's post is going to be about those two outfits for the upcoming winter season. Again gentlemen, these only serve as inspiration so you can get an idea of what you could wear.

I never thought I could be inspired by someone's haircut. For the longest time, I was used to her long hair. Her beautiful naturally wavy hair. It wasn't too much of a shock, more like a slight jolt. I'm glad she didn't cut it too short, it's still somewhat longer than average. Regardless the length, her hairdo now inspired a look I might have seen a while back in a film somewhere. WARNING: This is super feminine.

It's the day after Thanksgiving in the States and plenty of left overs to get to, I'm sure. Since it's also the weekend, or the start of, today's look is all about relaxing without letting go completely. Ladies, regardless of how beautiful you are or how well you keep your shape, these couple of days is all about stuffing yourself and the only exercise you will get is taking part in Black Friday.

Gentlemen, I have repeated this countless times. When you purchase certain items for your wardrobe, make sure you treat it as an investment. When it comes to one's style, it is vital you understand and make certain that the items you choose can be worn on a number of occasions. It's about being versatile. You aren't impressing anyone by going to your favorite stores and splurging for a closet that will house certain things that will only once see the light of day. Now, even if that was acceptable (and it never will be), most of us do not have the kind of money. Most of us have to make it work; work with what you have.
After acknowledging the quality and fit of an article of clothing or accessory, the next step is how often. The ability to take one item and use it in many different looks is a huge pat on the back and respect in the world of style. A bigger plus is having the particular item look as if the outfit was made for it. In other words, it's actually fine to wear something more than once in a week, even if what you have is quite expensive. Again, it comes down to cleverly working it into your style arsenal.
This doesn't mean wear it every single day either (that should be obvious). With that in mind, here is a topcoat (another autumn/winter essential) that is sporting two different looks, one dressed-up and the other more casual. You can have an idea how to work things from your own wardrobe the next time you step out the door.
