    Gentlemen's Sartorial 50

    10:56 PM

The holidays are over for most of us and you know what that means, gentlemen. Back to work. This got me to thinking about this edition's topic. A good way to ease into the new year is a light but important post on ties.

There are many occasions where one must wear a necktie. At a wedding, to the office, for a date, and other appropriate events throughout a man’s life. The main concern is that there are also gentlemen who love wearing ties yet make the same mistake as beginners do. Putting a tie into a certain knot (and there are several different knots) is one thing, untying it is a different story. The biggest mistake with that process is that men are actually damaging the ties by the way they untie it hastily once they get home.
Instead of trying to tear and yank it off your neck, it helps if you take things a little slowly. The best way, the only proper way, is to untie your necktie in the reverse order you tied it in. For example, if you went from ‘step 1 through 6’, you would have to reverse it while untying it going from ‘step 6 through 1’. The amount of stress that the tie was in the entire time around your neck can easily be released if you have untied it the proper way. Not only are you saving money by stretching the longevity of your tie, you are also respecting the wise investment you have made.
I've gathered a collection of new and in-season ties to share with you all.
