Private Collection: Norse Star
8:43 PMLook #2 is inspired by my second crush. It was my first school crush. No, it wasn't a classmate, it was a teacher. I was unfortunate to find myself in the 5th grade without my best friends; they were assigned to a different classroom next door. However, the first day of school totally made up for it. There she was, the Norwegian goddess - Idunn. The prettiest and the youngest teacher of the lot. And she was Nordic completely, stereotypical features of a girl from up north. I believe she was in her early to mid 20s boasting her teaching credentials.
Idunn (not her real name, of course) was vibrant and always eager to help her kids. It didn't take me too long to try to get on her good side. There was once this social studies trivia competition for all the fifth-graders at school. She went around, one desk after another, asking us random questions to answer. In one particular question, which fell upon me to face, caught her off guard. What I mean is she wasn't expecting me to answer the question correctly. I was a geography nut in my youth so confidence was not lacking. She asked what the capital of Norway was. I answered Oslo, to her amazement she paused. Then, she followed up with the smile and said, "I'm impressed." I had won her over that day. I wish you could see me smirk right now.
