A fantastic start to the week. This past Sunday I actually had a near total of 11 hours of sleep. That rarely happens. Not only that but this blog has had plenty of visitors from all over the world. With the most recent post it has surpassed the 1,000 hits mark. I want to thank all of you regular readers and even the ones who drop by from time to time (as well as new readers). There are things that are still allowed and still are seen a bit rude. Ladies, the majority of you find it appalling when your date (or significant other) orders for you at a restaurant without your knowledge. I completely agree, it's an obvious act of some archaic tradition that must be rid of. There are things that are OK for a gentleman to do, ladies. Please, let them do so and share the load instead of trying to prove that you are not the weaker sex.

In that perspective, a gentleman may step in but might me afraid of what you think of his action.
- Picking up the tab - If you are first meeting a guy, it's OK to let him take care of the bill. Proper ladies never come off as "gold diggers" on the first date; it's impossible. Do not wonder if he is thinking that you are one. Until the relationship is actually well established over some time, then it's perfectly fine to offer to take care of the bill.
- Lighting your load - Love shopping? Of course, you do! When a gentleman asks to help you with your bags. Let him. If you insists that you can carry your own, it's fine as well. Just don't take offense if he asks politely, "Let me help you with those bags."
- Various tasks - Changing the oil on the car or fixing a leak is no longer a "manly" job. In fact, a woman who knows cars is a huge turn on. Regardless, the percentage of you who actually know cars or know how to fix a leak is very small. If you need assistance, you ask for it. Simple. If you actually know how to take on a stereotypical manly task, then do as you please. I assure you, a gentleman will step back and let you.
- Honor - You are at a club or some type of social gathering and there's a guy who simply won't leave you alone and ends up touching your backside. You could take care of yourself, but then again, this is not only a job for a gentleman to defend your honor but also to defend his own honor by confronting the idiot. It really all depends on the situation. If it's a skirmish or some kind of cat-fight, you got it down; there is no problem there, you can take care of it. Remember, a lady does know when to behave like a lady so stay away from those claws and show some class.
- On the menu - As I mentioned, a man ordering for you is simply rude. There is no consideration to sex here, it's just rude behavior. I would never let one of my friends order for me unless I ask for any suggestions. The same goes for you on dates. If a man does that on your date, he's definitely not a modern gentleman. Take a hint - the date won't last long.
There are plenty of other things to consider that a gentleman will do for you but you must not take that as an attack from the opposite sex. Keep your ego in check. A real gentleman not only opens doors for ladies, but he will do it for anyone. It's called consideration. It's the proper way to act in any venue. Please, do consider these common actions from a man and make sure that it's a two-way street, rather than just one.

There are definite "no-nos" and rules that can be bent. When it comes to color coordinating, there are specific guidelines you must follow. Today's topic is something so basic that most of us tend to forget or have been told that it simply looks ugly or just doesn't work. Putting together black and brown. In the earlier years of mens fashion, it was considered just bad taste. Nowadays, there aren't really any rules against it but there are certain guidelines to keep in mind.
It isn't really tricky; it's simply easy to forget or even to confuse if you do not care enough about it. To have that B&B look, it all comes down to the fabric. The normal and basic rules are:
- With black pant/suit color you are supposed to wear black, tan or camel, oxblood shoes.
- Gray pant/suit color and you must go with black, oxblood, and camel.
- Brown pant/suit color goes with any shade of brown, black, and camel.
- Navy pant/suit color is perfect with black, tan or camel, and oxblood.
- Earthy tones go well with any shade of brown, camel, black.
The important thing to realize here is that it's safer to go with the brown pant/suit with the any shades of brown shoes. But you cannot automatically turn to black shoes. You must always keep in mind what the fabric of your jacket/blazer is. A great wool coat goes beautifully with leather black lace-ups. Not only is it more chic but just gives you a more polished and smooth look. Whatever your peers have said or even loved ones, you can actually wear brown and black together. Although it goes well, you cannot stop there. Add a bit more hints of black with accessories. The thin black tie or even added to your cuff links (with hints of black) goes very well with black shoes.
