Earlier today, I was given "part 1" of a short documentary of British designer Ozwald Boateng from a cousin of mine (a shout out to Yasin for this one). The entire film - in six parts - was about his own style and what fashion meant to him. This inspired me to let everyone know what drives me in fashion. I have to be upfront, fashion to me wasn't that important until I started doing design. At first, the hobby for me was messing around with Adobe's Photoshop. Version after version, my fooling around evolved into something more of a creative craft. I found myself rightfully lost in a world of infinite possibilities. In the real world, I struggled to understand what my purpose was. On one side, I had my love for films, music, sports, and pretty much anything that had to do with the entertainment industry.
Better late than never. I guess you can call me a late bloomer. I soon realized, after spending my early to mid 20s in a not so desirable place, that I had a love for anything that had to do with design. Sure, it took me nearly two decades to pull those once confusing puzzle pieces together. I was the creative type. I am the creative type. For years, I never put any serious thought to what I wanted to be or do when I got older. I was never one of those kids in school saying, "I'm going to be a doctor when I grow up," or anything at all. I was (still am) a very laid back youngster. I subconsciously went on with my days as I do now - go with the flow. One thing was very clear. I love this world. In design, everyone has their own way of being inspired. The world was my inspiration. It doesn't matter if you are a fashion designer or an architect, everything around you can be inspiration. That's the beauty of design. That would be my personal experience and appreciation to design.

Not only do I instill that belief in each person I come in contact with, I give them the honest and blunt truth. I am no style icon, nor do I wish for all of you to follow what I do or say. I can only show you...you, the better you. I, like many others, are here to give you the necessary knowledge and tools to better yourself and your image. I cannot speak for others, but I do what I do because I can. It is because I love seeing others being genuinely happy and feeling better about themselves. It is because I have a passion for it, it's never been about my ego or wanting to achieve fame and or a lavish lifestyle. Those are bonuses.
My style is freedom. It's my "3S Effect": Sexy, sophisticated, and suave. The style I bring is old school Hollywood (don't have to wonder why Giorgio Armani is my favorite designer) mixed in with the modern day homage to vintage. The laid back California style fused with Western European. I have a sweet tooth for Italian design. A style that turns heads, creates smiles, and conjures up whispers of envy. No, it's not arrogance. It's pure confidence. It's confidence within myself, which in turn is my style.

I love your design style, and think it is the epitome of class and sophistication. My rule is always timeless. I take a basic LBD over the newest thing anyday!
ReplyDeletePersonally, I'm more into hipster and grunge, but hot damn, you look good. And yes, as far as menswear goes, Armani is da bomb
