    Gentlemen's Sartorial 15

    2:34 PM

True blue. I've mentioned before the use of different colors that carried on from this past summer. It can be tricky at times to have contrasting colors that work. The idea behind two or more contrasting colors isn't about the 'matching'. Before anything, you have to consider yourself. You. You have to know what kind of figure you have and consider your skin tone. There are colors that will look magnificent on you, while others will make you look like a complete disaster. Even a gentleman with the biggest you-know-whats cannot pull off certain looks. They are fooling themselves if they believe all you need is confidence.
Confidence brings out the best in you, not ill-advised pattern and color matching. Don't think 'match', think compliment; one color should compliment the other. Today's post (complete outfit) is surrounded around entire beautifully cut Richard James suit.

    Richard James half-lined wool-blend suit
Burberry London - Pembury cotton shirt
    Richard James wavy print pocketsqaure
John Lobb - City II leather Oxfords
Florsheim by Duckie Brown mid-calf socks
Salvatore Ferragamo embossed logo bi-fold wallet
(Vintage Watches) IWC 18k Yellow Gold Dress (c. 1950s)
    Tateossain "Scoubidou" double loop bracelet
There you have it, gentlemen. Pure chic. It's the perfect blend of vintage and 'today' style. Leave the tie and the belt is optional. The reason for no-tie is because we are driving away from the formal or even semi-formal. You want to look stylish without feeling you have some kind of obligation. Also means, you should keep the top two buttons open. And whoever told you that you have to wear a belt with a suit is wrong. Sure, there are occasions where a belt is called for, but if your trousers are tailored fit, then you have nothing to worry about. If you do choose to wear a belt with this type of outfit, make sure the color is the same as your shoes but in a different shade.
