  • A unique beauty from up north. First, Norway (click here), then Sweden happened. She was the first Bangali girl I had met with her personality. She was wise beyond her years, and more importantly, I never had a single argument with her. I've never not had an argument with a Bangali woman. True story. She taught me life lessons, having to reevaluate myself as a person more often than not. She's changed over the years, but I believe for the better. Much more open to the world, letting herself experiment, yet still with a steady head. A very vivid and special memory I have of her, which I never mention to her now, is when she wrote me a letter. A two-page letter sent from Sweden after we called it quits. Beautifully written with heartbreaking words, who does that right? The old school way of expressing someone's affection is so much more special to me now.
I still carry that golden envelope, stamp and all. It remains the most significant letter written to me. I won't lie, she's one ex I don't mind keeping in life. She's a constant reminder of humility for me. It's good to know we've kept the memories locked away but continue to respect each other enough to act completely normal with each other. And is it me or are these outfits keep getting warmer and warmer? I guess the autumn/winter bug has gotten to me.

She was special to me for many reasons, but mainly for one. For what, I cannot disclose. Go ahead and guess. Take a shot at it and I'm sure you'll hit the spot. She wasn't your stereotypical Persian girl. Not too fancy, picky, or high maintenance and somewhat arrogant. However, she was confident and fierce, never backed down from anything. I loved that about her, even more her beautiful mother. She treated me like her own son. Never passed a chance to compliment me and compare me to her daughter's past failures. And the banter in Farsi the two would exchange made my heart melt. Not to mention the wonderful cooks these two were. As passionate as we were towards each other, we'd constantly butt heads. One too many arguments drifted us apart. Naturally, it ate our relationship inside-out. We ended it on mutual terms, so I'd like to think. But we remained in contact for a while, displaying our mutual respect. She became that one ex who claimed certain privileges, which didn't settle in too well with my future significant others. For obvious reasons for course. This, of course, gave way to many "drama for ya mama" episodes. But there's a slight twist to this look. It's not based on her, it's inspired by her mother.
I admired her mother for the woman she was. A single mother who was genuinely satisfied with life, she was the perfect example of a strong independent woman. Not only was this woman gorgeous, she was incredibly stylish. In her younger years, she was a complete knockout. I always enjoyed browsing through old photo albums. There were particular shots she had taken in Paris. Jaw dropper. This Iranian beauty took pride in her look and made it look effortless. Such grace, left me in awe. These two made my senior year in high school quite entertaining. I wish I could sit with her again one day just to listen to her life stories. I hope she's well. I believe this deserves two looks.

And queue Justin Timberlake, "This just can't be summer loooove!" It was the summer of 99. She was half Mexican, half Puerto Rican. Try to picture a younger version of Jennifer Lopez with softer facial features. She was that smokin' hot. A supermodel-like figure, legs for days and had no problem shaking what her mama gave her. You can technically count her as my first actual girlfriend. Sadly, the relationship (if you can call it that) lasted a couple of weeks; shortest relationship I ever had. Why? Well, she was the hottest thing in the neighborhood. A girl like that wasn't meant to settle, she was too hot to handle. The situation got infuriating at times, but we were young and stupid back then.
As attractive as she was, her name also spelled trouble. You know the kind of woman I'm talking about. Gorgeous, flirtatious, loved the attention. Unfortunately, she became a reason for me to physically get into a fight with one of my closest friends. He was possibly the only guy that had a genuine affection towards her. Again, we were young and stupid. Fortunately, we're still close friends. Fortunately, she's got a couple of kids now and has matured - a huge contrast to the naive attractive youth in those days. What I remember most, apart from her stunning features, was the passionate way we hated each other after the "breakup". There was this unexplainable care we had for each other but on the outside, it was fierce. We would curse each other out whenever we had a chance. But I love that kind of fire in a woman, and Latinas do it better than any other.

I'm sure the cast of Heroes would appreciate that title. But unfortunately, this isn't a story of my soiree with the now pregnant Hayden Panettiere. This is about a cheerleader I crushed hard on back in the 7th grade. Apart from my celeb crush on Tyra Banks, before she went cray-cray, this crush lasted nearly three bloody years! Not sure if it was the soft curls, hypnotizing smile and dimples, or the incredibly proportional body. And her personality? Perky would be an understatement. She was, and possibly still is, an intelligent ball of positivity. And I felt that loving vibe from the moment we met. She thought I was the cutest, hugged me like no other. It wasn't just a hug, it was a 'squeeze the crap out of you' bear embrace.
But here's another pretty gal that favoured more skirts and shorts; although, I do remember her in trousers on many occasions. In my opinion, she did the skirt game the best. Those legs. Killer. She was athletic after all.
It's good to know we keep in touch from time to time. It's also good to see her with a successful business and being a newlywed. Hats off, love. Wish nothing but the best for you.

Soon after, I got myself in a somewhat complicated situation. Yikes, this was back in the 6th grade. Imagine what "complicated" meant back then. Nonsense. Anyway, this petite Mexican cutie would always show up to school with either shorts or skirts. I don't think I've ever seen her wearing bottoms past her knees. I'm sure she had but I was use to seeing her with shorter hemlines. Come to think of it, her hair was always above her shoulders. I never complained. With killer dimples, Lorena had developed a flirtatious bond with me. The thing is, after quite some time, I realized she might have been using me to get my best friend jealous. Why you ask? Because my best friend had chosen to go out with her friend rather than her. Again, I wasn't complaining. In the process, it couldn't be helped. I crushed on her hard, not knowing her little hidden agenda.
A year after, when we entered Jr. High (or middle school for some), she became distant. Maybe because her older brother went to the same school so she had to make sure we weren't as close. Fair enough. The 7th grade was the beginning of a much bigger crush, but we'll get to that later.
