I haven't been able to update this blog as I would like to. I have been caught up with someone's wedding and so on. It's kind of like a family thing, well, it is a family thing. Honestly, I am fed up. The whole suiting up was fun but that can only stretch so far. An entire week of that nonsense, I'm sorry. I'm done. The final week of the year has come around. I hope all of you had or are having a smooth holiday break. For those still working around this time, hope it's a little easier for you as the holidays pass by.
Back to work. I couldn't help but to turn on my 'fashion police' alarm in my head at the reception. A couple of young lads attempted to look as sharp as we did at the wedding (couple of nights before the reception) and failed horribly. One misguided gentleman was wearing a complete suit with a bow tie. I cried bloody foul. Not only that, the width of the kid's bow ties was as wide as his entire jaw. I'm also sure he didn't tie that bow on his own. This young man was actually a lackey for another - a henchman. His boss wasn't as bad but still made plenty of mistakes. The tie was too loose for my liking, in fact, too loose for anyone with some common fashion sense. The young man's shoes were, for the lack of a better word, insulting. It was like some fusion of a hiking boot and dress boots. It just made me want to throw up. I also noticed his dress shirt looked too familiar to those uniforms kids wear in a school or an academy. They attempted to keep up with us (my cousins and I) but failed horribly. What more is there to say? Let the real men take the stage, you kids can play in the back.
I, honestly, hoped I could have helped them.
~ Ladies First ~
Time to get back to business, ladies. Here is another look to have. It's all about the essential winter white jacket. From top to bottom here we go (taken from Style.com):
- Gentleman Tip of the Day -
Askmen.com's new layout is pretty impressive yet straight to the point. What they have pretty much done is they the top five short articles that concentrate on only one part of a man's life. Each day and a different part of a man's world is discussed. Today was all about your skin. How to keep your skin clean and look youthful. What things to avoid and which anti-aging products to purchase. You get the hint. Here are top 10 habits to keep in order to make and or keep your appearance more attractive.
- Gentleman, this is the number one and possibly the most important of them all. Exercising should be non-negotiable. There should never be a single excuse for you not to be working out. It doesn't mean hit the gym every single day as much as you can. It means doing nothing at all is going to be your downfall at the end. I work out 4 days a week, it changes as the seasons change, and I feel sick to my stomach when I miss a single day. Make this a priority! Strict discipline makes the body and blood flow in an harmonious fashion.
- This is an obvious one. Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day. It also depends on the stress of workout during the day. If you play sports for a living, for example, you should make drinking more than just 8. I always keep a 20/24 oz bottle of water next to me at all times. If I'm not drinking water, it's either fresh fruit juice or a sports drink like Gatorade.
- Guys, I cannot stress more about this. That whole "I'll sleep when I'm dead" attitude will get you closer to death than you like to think. You need an average of about 8 hours of sleep each night or day. Your body needs that rest! It's like recharging the battery on your cell phone. You have to get at least 7 to 9 hours of sleep. When you have the chance to stay in and sleep rather than going out to some club, take the one that is good for your body! Stay healthy.
- Avoid sugar and simple carbs. This is basically telling you to lay off the junk food. Lean more towards vegetables. My daily meal routine always has at least one side dish of strictly veggies. I feel upset when there isn't any type of vegetables that sit aside my meat and or grain. You have to keep those proportions balanced.
- Keeping that face clean and attractive. Using face wash better be a regular thing for you in the morning. Moisturize afterward, then lay on the eye care creams, and use lip balm every morning. This is basic stuff so you better be on top of that. No excuses.
- Shave after you shower. Not before. It helps out the pores a lot when you take a warm shower. When I say warm, I don't mean scolding hot! You need it up to a point where it's 65% hot and 35% cold. The skin is at it's smoothest and breathing after you take a shower. It'll make your shaving an easier experience.
- Visit your barber every 3 to 6 weeks. You have to keep a clean look so keeping your hair trimmed is very important. The goal here is to look polished, no matter what field of work you find yourself in. The consistency needs to be there so it shows that in your character you have consistency in your work as well.
- Floss your teeth and whiten your teeth every six months. Flossing should be an everyday thing, nothing new there. Gentleman, your smile makes a huge impact even if you do not realize it. When those whites are exposed, it pretty much says, "Welcome in, how may I help you?" You want people to be drawn to you and feel comfortable. A charm is nothing if you don't have at least a descent smile.
- Do not forget to shampoo. Some of us take two showers a day, which means your hair will be exposed to more water. The important factor here is never shampoo more than once a day. Your natural oils that are located on your head need to release. Just as the rest of your skin, the natural oils need to be released or may cause horrible scalp stories. And don't forget your conditioner!
- Change the bedsheets. What you may not realize is that those natural oils I talked about actually release right onto your sheets. Your pillow is the number one place for that. Those oils from your hair are transfered to your pillow. When you decide to lay on your side and the side of your face touches your pillow that oil is then transfered right onto your face. This of course leads to pimples, acne, and so on. It's that clogging grime that you do not want! Try to change your sheets at least once a week!
