I never paid too much attention to television shows before as much as I do now. Growing up in the 90s, we were used to watching our comedy sitcoms. They were the reigning kings of televisions well into the early 21st century.
Nowadays, cable networks are pumping out HBO production level shows. Film stars are getting into the small screen and with much success. There are even struggling actors who are making a name for themselves with these hit shows. Where as in the past, they were 'nobodies'. The new shows we have been watching for the past couple of years have gotten addicting - for a good reason.
I decided to put out my top 5 stylish leading men on television. The actors playing the characters are fantastic, but we want to look at what each of the characters bring into the style department.
#5 - Chuck Bass (Ed Westwick) [Gossip Girl] - It's that arrogant "bad boy" on the upper east-side that starts off the list. I don't think there has been a single episode (not including the first 2 seasons) where I didn't like what Chuck was wearing. I'm not a religious follower of this show as the other ones on this list, but I have found myself (mainly because of the fashion and lifestyle) addicted to it recently. I have to say, I can't wait for the new episodes to come on by. Even better, Ed Westwick (the actor), is a stylish person off the sets as well.
#4 - Enoch "Nucky" Thompson (Steve Buscemi) [Boardwalk Empire] - The true glamor of the 1920s lives right through Nucky. His flawless ability to look angry and genuinely satisfied with his powerful position in Atlantic City is pure brilliance. This is possibly the best role of Buscemi's life and also one of the stylish characters to grace the small screen.
#3 - Michael Westen (Jeffrey Donovan) [Burn Notice] - No secret here, I am a huge espionage/spy fan. This show, in my opinion, is better than the other espionage/spy/secret agent shows out there. I love a couple of others but this tops the cake in this genre. Mr. Westen is always wrapped around in the best designer clothing that is the perfect blend to Florida's Miami. Not to mention, he also kicks ass.
#2 - Don Draper (Jon Hamm) [Mad Men] - I am a huge sucker for vintage. Don Draper, now, has a huge cult following. The creators of this show has struck pure gold, especially with Jon Hamm as the lead. How the show came to be is actually very interesting and exaggerated, but I won't get into that now. He is a man's man and the women can't stay away. This alluring gentleman has all that he wants but also distances himself from the past. He's mysterious but in the eyes of others, a position any man would want. It's all about the 60s here and a wonderful glamorous projection of that decade. Simply awesome.
#1 - Neal Caffrey (Matt Bomer) [White Collar] - The ex-con artist turned FBI consultant is the topper on my list. Matt Bomer is the perfect actor for the role. The character is supposed to be the charming, debonair, and smooth criminal. His hint of old school and new school is my kind of style. In a way, it is my style. In many episodes, Neal actually mimics the 'Rat Pack' style of approach. He's a perfect package, he's Neal Caffrey.
The more exciting bit, more episodes from these shows to come!
