  • I have seen most of my friends complain about the recent weather. Is it really too cold? I, personally, love the cold weather. For a fashion aficiando like me, it's just divine. All those different articles of clothing and the layering. Need I say more? This is when all that chic strut comes center-stage. I believe when you live in a tropical climate in 9 months out of the 12 you tend to lean towards the cold weather near the end.
Growing up in Southern California was wonderful and perfect. In my opinion, California has the best weather in the world. Even then, I always preferred the winter. It's still my favorite season. Maybe it's because I was born in February has something to do with it? Regardless, winter seems to have arrived earlier than expected. My heart does go out to those who are travelling around this time. The snow is so bad (just as the temperature) there are various delays in places like Europe. On the other hand, I couldn't be happier (especially that special person is back in my life again). You know who you are. The lack of travelling for me and the time for more fashion makes me appreciate the winter even more.
Enjoy the cold, people, while it lasts. And of course, stay stylish.

The so many dos and don'ts. I think most of us tend to forget the basics at times. We get so caught up with the world we live in that we over look the obvious. There are some dos and don'ts to keep in mind next time you dawn that gorgeous outfit to show the world you have arrived this season. Plucked from some female celebrities (Glamour), these should be crossed off on your check-list:

    Emma Roberts
    • DO keep your make up light and your face fresh and keep your hair style simple. In other words, let your clothes do all the talking.
    • DO smile. Not as in show those pearly whites. The type of smile that keeps the elegance and class at the same time giving a faint hint of naughtiness when you smirk.
    • DO keep the florals, they still work.
    • DON'T put your summer dresses in the back of the closet just yet because just like those florals, it's still accepted.
    • DO lean on subtle hues and make a statement with that eye liner. Blush pinks and understated beiges work very well for that evening out.
    • DO rock the daring high hemlines. But of course, don't forget the leggings. It's cold out there and you aren't crazy.
    • DO go with the powerful red in a lipstick with a black dress. Once again, the make up should be light to have the lipstick's effect be powerful.
    • DON'T think you have to have a celebrity's budget to look like them. Emma Roberts was looking adorable in a dress from Kate Moss' collection for Topshop.
    • DO invest in some black laced dresses and tops. They are all over the place this season. In a way, you can pull off the goth look without looking morbid.
It's easy to follow, ladies, and there are plenty of more dos and don'ts just stick to these for now as a good starter for this winter.

Gentleman, let me introduce you to the world of bags. It's no longer just a woman's realm. There are different types that you must get familiar with, if you haven't already. Remember just like any accessory, you must carry a certain bag given it's occasion.
    • Briefcase - We all know what this is. It's not complex and not too hard to understand what these are used for. We've grown up watching or dads or other older men carry them around. Carry with: Business attire.
    • Messenger bag - It's origins are obvious, they were simply made for messengers. Going from building to building, the messages or packages were delivered. Nowadays, we can carry them around in the most casual manner as a stylish accessory. Carry with: Street chic clothes.
    • Holdall - This is mainly for those weekend travel arrangements. Its design inspiration comes form the duffel bag. It's a stylish version of those bulky and heavy luggage. Carry with: Casual weekend wear and business-casual wear.
    • Camera bag - This will not question your manhood. Don't even think twice about it. It's meant to be strapped across the shoulders. It serves a purpose more than just carrying around your camera. You can keep your personal belongings to wherever you go. Carry with: Leisure wear.
    • Tote bag - This is the modern approach to the classic briefcase. It has the professional yet non stuck-up look. The chocolate brown or black goes fantastic with what you are wearing and adds that manly touch to it. Carry with: Business casual clothes.
    • Newsboy bag - This has become synonymous with men's casual wear. It's very similar to the messenger bag but it usually has a traditional rough canvas exterior. The style is to show that it's a lot less formal than the designs of a messenger bag. This is usually perfect for a student on campus. Carry with: Campus-chic wear.
There's something for every man on this topic. Do not shy away from carrying a bag around. It's not only stylish but for obvious reasons, it's functional more than anything else regarding a bag.

Ladies, most of you complain that chivalry may be dead. Take a step back. Did you ever think that maybe it is because the changing of the times? One generation after another and we empower women little by little - feminism. There is nothing wrong with a strong willed independent woman. The thing is women nowadays are much more eager to challenge the opposite sex. Now, I'm sure most of you know how to defend yourself from, for the lack of the better word, assholes. In that perspective, a gentleman may step in but might me afraid of what you think of his action.
There are things that are still allowed and still are seen a bit rude. Ladies, the majority of you find it appalling when your date (or significant other) orders for you at a restaurant without your knowledge. I completely agree, it's an obvious act of some archaic tradition that must be rid of. There are things that are OK for a gentleman to do, ladies. Please, let them do so and share the load instead of trying to prove that you are not the weaker sex.
    1. Picking up the tab - If you are first meeting a guy, it's OK to let him take care of the bill. Proper ladies never come off as "gold diggers" on the first date; it's impossible. Do not wonder if he is thinking that you are one. Until the relationship is actually well established over some time, then it's perfectly fine to offer to take care of the bill.
    2. Lighting your load - Love shopping? Of course, you do! When a gentleman asks to help you with your bags. Let him. If you insists that you can carry your own, it's fine as well. Just don't take offense if he asks politely, "Let me help you with those bags."
    3. Various tasks - Changing the oil on the car or fixing a leak is no longer a "manly" job. In fact, a woman who knows cars is a huge turn on. Regardless, the percentage of you who actually know cars or know how to fix a leak is very small. If you need assistance, you ask for it. Simple. If you actually know how to take on a stereotypical manly task, then do as you please. I assure you, a gentleman will step back and let you.
    4. Honor - You are at a club or some type of social gathering and there's a guy who simply won't leave you alone and ends up touching your backside. You could take care of yourself, but then again, this is not only a job for a gentleman to defend your honor but also to defend his own honor by confronting the idiot. It really all depends on the situation. If it's a skirmish or some kind of cat-fight, you got it down; there is no problem there, you can take care of it. Remember, a lady does know when to behave like a lady so stay away from those claws and show some class.
    5. On the menu - As I mentioned, a man ordering for you is simply rude. There is no consideration to sex here, it's just rude behavior. I would never let one of my friends order for me unless I ask for any suggestions. The same goes for you on dates. If a man does that on your date, he's definitely not a modern gentleman. Take a hint - the date won't last long.
There are plenty of other things to consider that a gentleman will do for you but you must not take that as an attack from the opposite sex. Keep your ego in check. A real gentleman not only opens doors for ladies, but he will do it for anyone. It's called consideration. It's the proper way to act in any venue. Please, do consider these common actions from a man and make sure that it's a two-way street, rather than just one.

    - Gentleman Tip of the Day -
There are definite "no-nos" and rules that can be bent. When it comes to color coordinating, there are specific guidelines you must follow. Today's topic is something so basic that most of us tend to forget or have been told that it simply looks ugly or just doesn't work. Putting together black and brown. In the earlier years of mens fashion, it was considered just bad taste. Nowadays, there aren't really any rules against it but there are certain guidelines to keep in mind.
It isn't really tricky; it's simply easy to forget or even to confuse if you do not care enough about it. To have that B&B look, it all comes down to the fabric. The normal and basic rules are:
    • With black pant/suit color you are supposed to wear black, tan or camel, oxblood shoes.
    • Gray pant/suit color and you must go with black, oxblood, and camel.
    • Brown pant/suit color goes with any shade of brown, black, and camel.
    • Navy pant/suit color is perfect with black, tan or camel, and oxblood.
    • Earthy tones go well with any shade of brown, camel, black.
The important thing to realize here is that it's safer to go with the brown pant/suit with the any shades of brown shoes. But you cannot automatically turn to black shoes. You must always keep in mind what the fabric of your jacket/blazer is. A great wool coat goes beautifully with leather black lace-ups. Not only is it more chic but just gives you a more polished and smooth look. Whatever your peers have said or even loved ones, you can actually wear brown and black together. Although it goes well, you cannot stop there. Add a bit more hints of black with accessories. The thin black tie or even added to your cuff links (with hints of black) goes very well with black shoes.

I hope most of you slept in, if you had the chance. I know some of you were out there all night until finally getting home at or around 6 AM. To be honest, I have never taken part in that chaos called "Black Friday". Although, I do enjoy the crazy stories (mostly from women) on their adventures through those desirable stores and long lines. I'll keep today's post short and sweet. Let's stick with the sober vibe so most of you can recover from last night. For my worldwide audience if you do not know about "Black Friday", you can always look it up and only relish at such an opportunity. Regardless, the tips today is provided for everyone. Enjoy the rest of the weekend and stay warm!
It's like people going crazy at a Wu-Tang concert!

You still have to party right? The holiday season is already under way (no matter where you are in the world) and you must definitely look stylish when hitting up those sexy/classy parties. You have to look like a knock-out once you enter that party. There are plenty of choices and looks you can pull off (given your individual body and shape), but I have chose a couple that will be a sure hit.

    H&M Bow Pumps

    • Stick to it. Remember it's winter come early which means staying warm and stylish is a must. I'm talking about putting on sequin filled and lacy leggings, patterned ones and textured tights. Make sure there is a fair amount of transparency as well.
    • The 50s still rolling. If you have followed this blog, you'll know by now that this season there has been a huge influence from the 50s fashion. The H&M Bow Pumps is a huge example of how hot you'll look at parties.
    • The 70s inspired camel coats. From thigh length all the way down passed the knees, you cannot go wrong with these.
    • Red, the color of passion. It's a signature of "look at me" seduction. Get into having a dress dripped in red shades of scarlet, tomato, claret and or cherry. Warning, this is pure sex appeal so you better be one heck of a confident woman to step outside with this number. This is also possibly the hottest pick of them all simply because it's out of the norm of staying completely warm.
    • Nothing wrong with getting in touch with your "wild side". Those different animal prints (leopard, zebra, tiger, etc.) are a huge plus. From coats to an all out dress, don't be shy to strut your sophistication.
    • Accessories in warmth. Knitted tights, woolen headbands, beanies and crocheted shawls to complete some of your outfits.
    Valentino
Keep these new trends in mind before you hit up your next party or gathering.

    - Gentleman Tip of the Day -
Chivalry is definitely not dead. It is true that we no longer see at as much as we used to, which is a pure shame. Naturally, I am a selfless person so being considerate of others was never a problem for me. I know the title of the blog is blunt and to the point, but you must know that I am not just all talk; I walk the walk. When a lady approaches the table, I politely get up form my seat. When she gets up to excuse herself, I politely get up form my seat. Are you catching on? Holding doors for a lady, letting a lady go first, and so on.
I know we all love our iPhones and BlackBerry phones and we lose ourselves completely into them, but texting a woman is just not romantic. You want to charm the heck out of a woman? Or romantically woo your girlfriend (wife) in a manner that suggest you still care? Invest in a quality fountain pen. Writing a small simple letter to her is a huge romantic reminder that you can still take the time, with your own hands, to show her how much she really means to you. To a woman, it brings back memories of old - the cutesy and endearing moments. Gentleman, it is not only romantic but it carries a certain amount of class. It's a sign of sophistication. You really don't need to dig into your wallet too far either. Let's face it, sometimes, it's better to have things written out by your hand with a top class fountain pen.
    MONTBLANC Meisterstuck Diamond
The certain art in the ink and the way the tip of the pen is angled is simply elegant. You don't need to carry an entire collection, all you need is just one. The most famous of brands would be Mont Blanc; even though Mont Blanc is located in the French alp, it's a German company. Be prepared to hand over a little over $150 for an average quality pen. If money isn't an issue, there are always the limited edition ones you can invest in which will cost a little over $1,000 (USD). There are other companies like Scheffer, Watermen and Parker, and other luxury labels like Louis Vuitton and Cartier that create some quality pens.

Askmen.com are having their annual voting for the Top 99 Most Desirable Women 2011 Edition. I have casted my votes and I felt like I should share it with the rest of you. Here is my top 10 nominees.
    1. Sofia Vergara - I've always been a fan of hers ever since she came into the spotlight. Now, she's pretty much a household name after the hit show Modern Family. Not only is she possibly the hottest mother celebrity out there, she is brilliant in her comedic role. For all that don't know...her accent on the show is highly exaggerated; it's for comedic purposes. Her authentic accent isn't has thick.
    2. Emmanuelle Chriqui - She topped the list last year at #1 and it just fits that she slightly slides down from the top spot. She is still my ideal "marriage material".
    3. Irina Shayk - My favorite supermodel and has gone down on my top 5 super models of all time. This Russian beauty really does not have the conventional Russian features. She is truly an exotic beauty.
    4. Penelope Cruz
    5. Marion Cotillard
    6. Katrina Kaif
    7. Monica Bellucci
    8. Angelina Jolie
    9. Beyonce
    10. Rosie Huntington-Whiteley
There are many other nominees on the list in three different categories: 1. Models & Athletes
    2. Actresses
    3. Singers
Even though my number one weakness happens to be classically beautiful women, the women on this list makes my blood temperature rise to a whole different level. This year around, Sofia tops the list mainly because before that role in Modern Family, she was simply a sexy Latina. Now, her talent in acting isn't too bad. How sexy is that? Seriously. One of the sexiest celebrities has comedic timing. If that isn't desirable, most of you men might want to rethink your whole idea of what is sexy. I know that the term 'sexy' is an ambiguous one, but you have to admit she has to be on the top 10 of many people's list. Sofia Vergara was already known in North America (and South America) but now, she has an entire world to be exposed to. Take it from me, living on the other side of the world, she's becoming very popular with celebrities and the general public all together.
    Raspberry Gelato
Honorable Mention: My Raspberry Gelato - She's not famous yet; although, give her a few years I'm sure she'll top my list. Yes, she is a real person. I'm just keeping her real identity disclosed simply because it's not the time to expose her completely to the public just yet.

    ~ Ladies First ~
Shearling all over. Seems like the women of stardom are sporting from shearling jackets, coats, and boots. From the affordable to the high price tags of the more well known designers. It is a definite look for these colder months for you ladies.
    Bonded Waterfall Jacket $40 (USD)
Black Shearling Flying Jacket $540 (USD)
Amore Shearling Trim Boots, around $150 (USD)
Remember, only one item of shearling is enough. You go one over and you are over-doing it. Work the rest of your outfit around the shearling clothes or boots. These are only a small taste of all the wonderful shearling items out there right now so if you haven't already get your tush down to those stores.

    - Gentleman Tip of the Day -
"I just had no interest at all. And then it was, like, anything that makes me feel good I wanted more of. Taking care of myself makes me feel good." - Marc Jacobs
    Marc Jacobs
The words from one of the fashion geniuses that should be taken to full effect. The rest of the article that I read introduces anyone to his grooming habits. Every part of the grooming goes into some quality time and effort. One thing to remember though, Mr. Jacobs is 47 so most of his grooming will taker longer than younger men. With a couple of exceptions, the rules apply to all gentleman who truly know how to take care of themselves. The procedures taken from Marc Jacobs (Marc Jacobs on Details click the link to read the entire article):

    • Hair - Shampoos and conditions with Philip B products. And slicks his hair back with hair-cream (similar to what I use) from Rene Furterer. Some men need to shampoo everyday because of their health regarding their roots and hair. Some men...are some men, not all. Therefore, you shouldn't be shampooing everyday or you will ruin your hair completely. The natural oils on your head need to be released so wetting your hair is fine for the day - without the shampoo.
    • Face - He uses face wash and toner from Joëlle Ciocco Lotion Lactee, under eye-cream (Dr. Brandt Time Arrest Eye Serum), serum (Dr. Brandt Time Arrest Face Fluid), and moisturizer (Joëlle Ciocco Creme Riche). The main focus here is that you should be using face-wash for men. It should never be skipped. Twice a day (morning and in the evening) should be enough.
    • Teeth - He gets his teeth whitened once a year from his own dentist. Guys, a smile is very important, especially when you are in the field of always talking and meeting people. Regardless the occasion, try to keep your teeth healthy and bright. I brush after every meal and when I'm not home I always keep chewing gum that fights plaque.
    • Body - The same moisturizer he uses for his face is the same for his body. No matter the color of your skin, your skin will crack and you always want to avoid the ashy elbows and knees. He also trims his body hair (chest and all) with the Philips Norelco beard trimmer with the adjustable blade removed. There are body trimmers out there as well but this works fine. Personally, I take care of the shaving of my armpits and chest. You want to keep those places that can build up plenty of sweat clean and smooth. And gentleman, there is nothing wrong with clearing out the crotch zone.
    • Fragrance - Unfortunately, Marc Jacobs is a smoker. That is why he came up with the idea of his new fragrance, Bang. You can use your Axe or other body spray but when it is work time or you are off to a special (and casual) occasion, you must always remember to have your signature fragrance.
Gentleman, he is one of the top designers out there so taking these words into consideration is a huge "must do". Stay fresh, stay cool.

Perhaps guilty as sin when it comes to fashion. Ladies and gentleman, it's OK to be embarrassed what our parents draped ourselves in. They thought it was cute. You thought, now being an adult, what the hell were they thinking? I went through older pictures of me and my family friends (back in California), after one of my friends commented on an old picture of mine on Facebook. It reminded me of the days where we had simpler things to worry about like which cartoons to watch and which character resembled us the most. Now, we are just too busy with pretty much everything.
We forget to appreciate those little moments we have. As grown adults, we are more image conscious. In reality, we have to be; it is the world we live in. It is because we are no longer children we must learn to take care of ourselves even better. Not just in grooming, but in the sense of fashion as well. It's the total package: the outfit, the smile, the confidence. Honestly, the majority of us do have those abilities so do not doubt yourselves right off the bat. Give yourself a chance. And hey, there are people like me out there who are more than willing to help. If you want to look sexy, you better feel sexy first. It starts with you and it ends with you - from inside-out.

    Lanvin travel kit
    ~ Ladies First ~
Shop 'til you drop? Not this time, ladies. It's the Holiday season which means spending more on the people you love than on yourself. There's plenty of spoiling yourself throughout the year. Here are some good ideas from leading ladies of the fashion world that may help you in shopping for the right gift. Remember, these are only ideas and it doesn't mean buying the exact thing on the list is the only way to go. I chose a few that I felt were the best picks from each of these ladies.

    • Rachel Zoe's (Stylist) list:
    1. A Cartier (Calibre de Cartier in rose gold) watch that wasn't too trendy but represented her unfading love for her husband.
    2. A Lanvin satin leopard-print travel kit.
    3. A Gucci 1973 duffel.
    4. Burberry Prorsum oversized shearling jacket.
    • Mademoiselle Agnes' (producer of lalala productions) list:
    1. 3.1 Phillip Lim double-breasted camel coat
    2. Ray-Ban - RB4125 Sunglasses
    3. Hermes Vintage Birkin Bag
    4. Chanel kid-suede boot
    • Anna Della Russo's (fashion director at large Vogue nippon) list:
    1. Trusardi 1911 leopard-print pony skin iPad holder
    2. Dolce & Gabbana - Smooth Eye-Color Duo, Shine Lipstick, and Ultra Shine Lip Gloss.
    3. Prada Tessuto camouflage messenger bag
    J.Crew crystal cluster cuff
    • Amalia Spinardi's (designer, Jo de Mer) list:
    1. J.Crew crystal cluster cuff
    2. Sejaa day cream (from Gisele Bundchen's line)
    • Tomoko Ogura's (women's fashion director Barney's New York co-op) list:
    1. J.W. Hulme limited edition iPad case
    2. Lanvin light taffeta trench coat
    3. Sacai chemise with lace details
Pick off of these ideas and I bet it'll make it slightly easier for you to choose certain gifts for whoever you have in mind. I know some of these products are on the pricey side but that's the lovely thing about fashion, you can always settle with something similar. Feed off of lists like these and it will only inspire you or give new ideas to buy gifts this holiday season. Happy shopping!

    - Gentleman Tip of the Day -
From the pages of GQ, here are a few things you need to get down for 'a 21st-Century Gentleman'.
    • Start a collection of pocket squares. The elegant handkerchief of yours, that is not used to wipe your perspiration, can be folded into a few classic ways to be placed on the front breast pocket on your blazer. Set yourself apart from the other men in the room with a little sophistication + 1. Try choosing a cotton, silk, or linen. Once that is in the pocket, don't you dare take it out to use it as a regular handkerchief. Keep an extra in your other pocket, properly.
    • Make sure there's a dimple on your tie. The tie-dimple is important to have on wider ties; the skinny/narrow ties are perfectly fine with a simple knot.
    1. "Tie your tie as you usually would, but before tightening it, press your finger into the fabric just below the knot."
    2. "Keeping your finger flat, slowly tighten the knot, leaving a deep dimple in the center about half an inch deep and an inch long. Practice makes perfect."
    • Find a signature scent. Here is a bit more if you have missed out, check out the GTD on this post: Signature Fragrance
    • An overcoat should be covering that fine suit of yours. The professionalism in a three-quarters, slim cut, coat screams style without making any ears bleed. It's that extra layer of warmth and sophistication.
    • Those dress shoes better be taken care of. Clean, polish, and wait. Again if you have missed out, check out the GTD on this post: A Man's Shoes
    • Accessories without flamboyance: Cuff-links. Invest in shirts with French cuffs. You don't really need any fancy designs, simply stick to the basics - gold and silver solid cuff-links. If you are a little advance, don't be afraid to mix it up with fabric type cuff-links with other clever designs.
    • Your favorite pair of jeans should be the dark-washed slim fit that you can wear with a blazer. I know we all have those pair of jeans that we simply can never get tired of because of its comfort and how lightly it falls on our bodies. Those jeans should be left on the days of complete relaxation, not pondering if you should wear it with a blazer. Solid color, no bagginess, and a simple print/stitching.
    • There is nothing more tacky than those novelty boxers or underwear. Smurfs? Really? That is seriously not sexy for a woman of taste, she'll laugh and then sleep with you just for the sake of it. Stick to solid or other designs (like checks or stripes) when it comes to boxers. And wear nothing else other than boxer-briefs or normal underwear when it comes to dress pants or even those jeans I just mentioned.
    • Keep it trimmed. If you can, go to your barbershop to line your hair up nicely once a week. You won't even know the difference, it's almost as if you had a haircut that lasted months without the line breaking.
    • You better have that classy/sexy wristwatch I talked about in the earlier post: GTD on watches
    • After a long while (around a decade or so), men are starting sport hats. I'm talking about the fedoras, trilby, the porkpie, or a bowler. Whether you want to sport it like Frank Sinatra or Justin Timberlake, there's a hat for you. Don't be shy.
    Frank Sinatra
Learn it, love it, live it. It's the 21st century, gentleman. Let's do it the way it should be done.

There was an article that I read online about the top 10 reasons to get married on Askmen.com. I, reluctantly, clicked on it by pure curiosity. As much as I love being a bachelor, I wanted to see what these reasons had to be. Most of them are legitimate reasons and make sense but none of them actually convinced me enough to lean towards marriage.
One of my little sisters got engaged not too long ago to her high school sweetheart. Here I am thinking to myself how can people just commit like that? I've never had any actual commitment issues but that's a whole different level of responsibility. That's easy for me to say, coming from a man who hasn't been in a relationship since May of 2005. As I have mentioned plenty of times before, I love to be in the company of women. Does that mean I'm some type of player? No. I simply love women and whenever I have the chance, I dive right in for a stimulating conversation. By the way, you can actually be a successful 'player' by being a gentleman. True story.
I've designed my habits in order to feel numb to the fact of having a relationship. I work out regularly, eat healthy, get the 7-9 hours of sleep, and drink plenty of water. It's a strict code of self-discipline just as it is to stay single and not tempt yourself in getting into trouble. As I see so many of my friends and acquaintances getting engaged/married or having children, I keep thanking God I'm still single. It may be beautiful to those couples (and it is in many aspects) but I feel I can live my life without those 'wonderful' moments. I can create my own 'wonderful' moments. I'm still in my mid 20s so give me a break, I have plenty of time to having the life I have now. Just the thought of marriage makes me cringe but I'm sure somewhere down the line, perhaps 15-20 years, I'll seriously think about it then. (wink, wink)

    ~ Ladies First ~
This may seem a bit embarrassing for the ladies, but it's still a problem. Chest acne can be a problem, especially when you do not take care of it right away. I hate to borrow a tip from Cosmopolitan but it's something that needs to be addressed. If you are planning on wearing a low-cut dress, those zits on your chest need to be gone. The usual and normal thing to do is follow the same process you do when trying to get pimples off your face. Seriously, don't be embarrassed or ashamed. That is how you can get rid of those irritating zits.
Although for a quick fix, there is a slight recipe to that problem.
    1. Crush two aspirin tablets - which has acetylsalicylic  acid that dries out the pimples and eliminates inflammation.
    2. Mix the crushed aspirin with a drop of water and a drop of honey to create a paste.
    3. Take the paste and apply to the area you want and leave it there for about 10 mins.
    4. After the 10 mins is up, rinse it with cold water.
Simple easy steps, isn't it? If you still need a little extra, just use a oil-free concealer or powder and it will cover it right up.

    - Gentleman Tip of the Day -
The wristwatch is the only jewelry for a man. Not all of us can pull off wearing diamond studs in a clean designer suit like David Beckham or Kobe Bryant. Therefore, stay away from any other jewelry and keep it safe and classy. I'm not talking about those calculator watches we used to wear back when we were kids, nor those GPS watches - they are simply tacky.
As so many other things for a man, there should be a timepiece for the casual times and the watch of the formal occasion. For the suited up look, you always stick with the leather (black or brown) belt and classic dial. For the casual, go with the steel bands and whichever color dial you fancy; although, make sure you are still color coordinating. Mind you, a quality dress watch will cost you over $1,000. The reason why they are so expensive is not just because they are hand-made, but they will be besides you for the next couple of decades. If you take care of it in the proper manner, a classic timepiece (the ones that cost over $10,000) will be handed down from generation to generation.
The best way to get a legitimate wristwatch (steel band or leather) is to go to an authorized retailer. There are online retailers as well but the best experience is to walk straight into a shop, just like any other important purchase. There are also some important points when shopping for the right timepiece:
    • Most mechanical watches use a intricate system of gears and springs that rely on mechanical energy to operate. You will know that the specific watch is a mechanical one is by the ID on the back of the watch (case back). It will also be identified in the watch's instruction manual.
    • Quartz watches are the more affordable purchases for us who make above minimum wage or our salary is still around the five digits (not in the high 70s +). These watches use the good old battery to operate. These aren't considered sophisticated by the timepiece connoisseurs but let's face it, we are always conscious of how thick are wallets are. It's OK to go ahead and purchase a quartz.
    • Nothing is as prestigious as a Swiss made (Swiss Movement) watch. The best of the best come from Switzerland. Do not settle for anything outside those borders.
    • Most well-known brands are now producing automatic movement watches. This means that the watches wind themselves by the movement of the wearer.
    • Keep up with the brand names. There companies you want to stay away from and there are those you should be closer to. Names like Tag Heuer and Movado are over-rated, you are better off. Rolex? To be honest, you may feel they are played out but they are still a major status symbol. The secret here is that Rolex get away with a slight hint of inflating their prices. Yes, they slap on a very high price tag; it's a price tag much higher than the actual worth of the watch. Stay away.
There are much more that goes into buying the right timepiece but keep these points in mind. The top of the mountain in Swiss watches include names like Patek Philippe, Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, and IWC (along with some others climbing the hill). They may be the most prestigious watchmakers but it doesn't mean those are what you should be aiming for. Not unless you are a millionaire or earn 6 figurers a year, you are safer going with brands you can afford in the range of Omega watches or even Tissot. And remember, brands like Cartier are more about flashy/flamboyance through diamonds and gems rather than the actual art of movements and the sophisticated pieces within a watch.
