Just one month left and autunno (Autumn) makes its transition to winter. It went by too fast for my liking. Living in a world where nearly 10 months out of the year feels like summer, it's a real drag. That's what you get for living in a tropical climate. In turn, most of us down in the tropical climate countries do not get the pleasure of wearing fall/winter clothes. Being a Californian myself, I love the cold weather. Strange, I know. Don't get me wrong, as a true Californian, I need beaches.
The thing is not everyone can experience the beautiful and perfect weather of Southern California. I'm not just being bias but stating facts here. Although, recently the weather everywhere (as it seems) has been off course - simply strange. Generally speaking, the weather is still the same. It's just that the temperature everywhere has gone to extremes. My point here is not to discuss global warming but what you can do to stay stylish in those warmer climates. I do envy places such as New York and Chicago, even though I would never actually live in NY - it's too busy for me. No, thank you. These cities have the true feeling of fall and winter. I'm a suit and tie kind of guy or a blazer wearing type of person so to me a place like Chicago would be perfect.
Just like the climate we have to be able to adjust and evolve as we get older. Let's face it, even when we were in grade school we really weren't too into our fashion sense. It was more about building a reputation and working on our entire image. In places, for example, Malaysia, one must learn how to work their way around the warm temperature and humidity. I know you would love to wear that new Chanel coat you just purchased, ladies, but there is a time and place for certain things. The beautiful thing about fashion is that you can thrive on these certain styles considering where you live in the world. In warmer climates, you can save enough money and concentrate on updating your wardrobe on more spring/summer clothing. Which means, you can save plenty of money during the colder months. You have to limit the choices on the months that seem to be a minority in the year. It's the complete opposite in colder climates. If you live in that perfect place where the weather is simply wonderful year-round, consider yourself blessed. Your shopping, both men and women, is much easier than those of your counterparts in other countries.

There was something I noticed last night at a wedding anniversary I attended. It was nothing too fancy just a small intimate setting with loved ones. Even though it was a small gathering, the women actually dressed accordingly. I was pleasantly surprised that they didn't drench themselves with make-up and jewelery. We all are aware there are certain attires for various events. More importantly, you must never try to outdo anyone else in the room, especially the hosts.

- The lighter the better - If it has anything to do with a marriage, learn how to walk humbly. It's perfectly if you have the essentials, like earrings and a simple but elegant necklace or a not so flashy bracelet. Make sure these accessories aren't blinding anyone either under the perfect lighting. Depending on what you are actually wearing, the colors and type of accessories should be the first thing you worry about.
- Posture - I really do not like telling people about proper etiquette, as I believe they should have learned by now. One of the most important thing that most of you forget is standing erect. While sitting down, you should be sitting up-right; especially when eating, you should never hunch over your plate. This is not just showing class but letting others know that the hosts deserve your respect. Remember, if you don't feel sexy or classy, you simply cannot look sexy or classy. Don't just talk the talk. Walk the walk.
- Recognition - I'm sure most of you ladies are aware why high class designers don't slap their fashion house logos all over the place on their clothes. If you wear the specific article of clothing correctly, another woman (even a man) will definitely inquire about it. You will be showered with compliments but do be careful of your ego. Name dropping is simply rude. Do not mention the designer or brand's name unless you are being asked directly.
If you go onto doing things correctly in a proper manner, I'm sure the host will be complimenting you by the end of the night. Take it in gracefully. When you become the host, then it will be your time to shine.
- Gentleman Tip of the Day -
Gentleman, know you audience. I always give tips and advice for the proper gentleman out there and allow room for some naughtiness. The thing is I know not all of you will follow my advice (even though you should) but it really comes down to your environment. The place where you work or the restaurant you love going to once a week. This is still not an excuse to have a personal barber or a tailor but I do understand that not all of us can pull off the shirt and tie. I'm not telling you to wear what I wear. I'm telling you to know your body and know that you should have your own classy style. Keyword: classy. Those baggy pants and graphic-tees should have little to no space at all in your closet. Although, I will make an exception to those graphic-tees as I believe it should only be worn in the most casual of places amongst friends or family.
- Swagger - I'm not talking about Jay-Z or any other popular hip-hop artist. I'm talking about the original swagger from gentlemen of decades past. You know, the Rat Pack. It wasn't just their handsome looks, sure it's a bonus. It was their approach, their owning the room without shouting. A smile flashed from across the room to a lovely lady. The subtle hints of greatness is seen from the way you walk. Be confident but keep your pride at bay. You don't need to learn how to sing or show any other special talents. Be yourself in the truest gentlemanly fashion.
- Do it for yourself - Take pride in that Ermenegildo Zegna suit. It's not just about the tailoring of your clothes but how confident you are in it. Don't fall asleep. Once you have made that fashionable statement, you have to keep on it. This is your reputation that is being considered. It doesn't mean you have to always wear a tie and or blazer. It means the quality that is wrapped around you should never be questioned. Practice in looking yourself in the mirror and saying, "I feel great today." Whatever the day brings you, positive or negative, you will know that you started feeling and looking good. This is a message to the rest of the universe that you will accept nothing but positivity.
- The cover - You know that saying, "Never judge a book by its cover." It is true but let's get real. Every single one of us judges someone one way or another at one point or another. That first impression is very important. No matter who it is you must know how to dress accordingly. If it's a humble surrounding, think simple not flashy. Regardless, the clothes on your back should be of undeniable quality. Leave the expensive watches and rings at home. To be a honest, the only ring a man should wear is his marriage ring. That's if your married, of course. You really don't get to know a person unless you have started a conversation and feel out their intellect and genuine views of the world. Be a man of the world not just a man of a single nation.
They love you because you love yourself. Be aware, I said love and not obsessed. A woman loves the confidence in a man. Take pride in your work and they will acknowledge it. Take pride in who you are and they will adore it. Take pride in the way you care for the world and they will fall in love with you.
