As a true gentleman, I do not discriminate. As a personal stylist, I cater to pretty much everyone. Well, I attend to those who are considered adults and to young adults who can actually pull off by acting like an adult. There is a new addition to this blog which I am sure the women out there will appreciate.
I have always said that classically beautiful women are my #1 weakness. Women, in general, is a weakness. I have repeated many times before my deep appreciation of the female race. It is only natural that I dedicate a portion of this blog to them as well. Do not worry, gentleman, the "GTD" will always remain, but ladies first...always. Every post, just as the "GTD", I will also leave a few lifestyle and fashion tips for women. There is no shame in some women out there to lean towards my words or other fashion aficionados out there. I don't know about other stylist but my aim has always been to help people feel comfortable and confident with themselves. I'm quite sure a woman will be intrigued by what a heterosexual bachelor has to say about fashion and lifestyle. Yes, a gentleman of fashion also has an important perspective for women to acknowledge.
I warn you, ladies, I am also very blunt and to the point. Honesty in fashion is always the best policy. I will not paint portraits of delusion for you besides the honest to God truth. The "3S" effect (Sexy, Sophisticated, Smooth) also applies to women. Remind myself to patent the 3S. What that implies is that you need to walk with a classy swagger. Nothing is sexier than a woman with class walking around as if she owns the ground you walk on. This is confidence not arrogance. Arrogance is to flaunt. A proper lady knows what she has and only reveals her most attractive attributes in a teasing manner. Think Prada - classy/sexy.

My soon to be flagship model, let's call her my Raspberry Gelato (my nickname for her and I cannot reveal her just yet), pointed out to me a very important issue when it comes to women's fashion. I have noticed this plenty, especially women of South Asia. Now, I lean towards to more of the European fashion but I still have an eye for all cultures. My RG is nearly 5'10" and has the perfect figure and look to be a model, well, she is a model. The thing is not every woman looks like a model so what do they result to? Over indulging themselves in ridiculous make-up and clothes they think they look good in, it's just not flattering! Magazines like Vogue are to help you understand more about fashion and various looks that is accepted in the fashion world for each season. Those magazines and adverts. are not for you to emulate those models.

- Make-up - Whether you like it or not stop embarrassing yourself. I have always been a believer that the true essence of beauty is natural beauty. You must know how your skin reacts to certain lighting and the environment around you. Try to use the lightest amount of make-up as possible. I am tired of women complaining how, "OMG, look at how those celebrities look without make-up!" I know you are only trying to boost your self-esteem. Let's be real, those women - celebrities and models - are normal just like you. The only difference is that they are famous. They are no better than you so stop trying to hide your insecurities behind a pound of make-up. Unless it's a costume party, don't you dare bathe in that make-up.
- Obsession with color - Not all women are blessed with beautiful natural tans. Some women are extremely fair and others lean on the darker side. It's OK! Relax, breathe. You have to know what colors to put on that will only compliment your skin tone and not insult it. It's perfectly fine to use those very expensive skin lightening products but face the facts, they will only help you for a few shades lighter. For women who are on the much lighter side, like pale, wear colors of all sorts (nothing too bright) but stay away from the darker colors. For the women on the darker side, stick to the earthy tones (darker subtle tones) and even though there are some bright colors that you can pull off, always consult to a stylist...like me. The trick with bright colors is it all depends on the design of the dress and what part of your attributes that design is pointing to. We all need to hide our less flattering parts and concentrate on the more attractive parts. For the women who are blessed with that beautiful tan, well, appreciate it to the fullest. Women go crazy to have that skin tone that can go with any color.
- The shape - As I have mentioned earlier, not all of you have the figure of a goddess/model. A perfect example can be found in South Asian fashion. I'm sure most of you have seen or even have worn the timeless sari or saree. It is the iconic outfit for the South Asian women (Indian, Bangladeshi, Pakistani, etc.). The only problem is nowadays the sari has evolved in fusing the western culture fashion into it. The sari now has become a little too sexy if you ask me. This leads to plenty of women who think they can pull of an outfit like that when really, it's a disaster. In the most delicate way, if your stomach is hanging out...well, you can figure out the rest. The sari and many outfits similar to it perfectly fits a particular figure. This goes with pretty much any style of clothing for women. It's OK not to have that goddess-like figure. There are articles of clothing that can still make you look sexy and attractive without having to starve yourself to death for a thin waist. That issue we will cover in a different post.
If you are curvaceous or petite, there is a certain style for all of you. Fashion, honestly, does not discriminate. That's the beauty of fashion. It may be superficial but it is still a work of art. Remember, we make the clothes. The clothes do not wear us, we wear the clothes.
- Gentleman Tip of the Day -
Let's take a page from the ladies on this one. Most of us would love to strut around like our style icons. Some of us would die to have that famous figure Brad Pitt showed off in Fight Club. I am perfectly fine with a lean and defined body but that's only because I like to stay healthy and look good. Not all of us gentleman have the time to hit the gym though. For others, as hard as they try their genes simply get in the way. Doesn't matter how tall you are or how short you are, you can still be stylish and not only look the part but become the part. For years, I always made fun of my own height, being that I'm only 5'3". What I quickly realized is you can manipulate your shape. Sammy Davis, Jr. (Rat Pack) was 5'3" - a style icon. True story.
Your body type is essential to figuring out the right style. God (if you believe Him or not) has made you that way. The least you can do is work with it. It's an act of an illusion.
- Large body types - Men with large frames - tall or wide - need to stay away from those tight clothes. Skinny jeans, for obvious reasons, is not for you. For men who have a little weight they need to get rid of, go with loose fitting clothes. Make sure the fabric you are wrapping yourself in is on the lighter side. You want your skin to breathe. Things to have in your wardrobe: Single breasted blazers/ Three-button suits (blazers), Blazers with a single vent or no vents, V-neck t-shirts and sweaters, Sweaters in thin fabrics, horizontally striped shirts (not vertical), and dressy knee-length coats. When it comes to jeans, always relaxed fit and in dark washes. Lean towards the darker color clothing so it tones down the large frame you may have.
- Short body types - Men who are 5'6" and shorter. Regardless to what you think, there are top designers out there that actually cater to your short figures. For example, I have a 28/29 waist in which designers love working with. One thing you must realize is that everything needs to be proportional. When it comes to ties shop for thin and narrow ties. The belts are the same. Just like any other, you have to buy clothes that point away from your height and highlights to the more attractive parts. For this type of height, put on clothes that lead to your face rather than the rest of your body. Things to have in your wardrobe: Two-button coats and blazers, even though there are single-button blazers that you can still pull off like I can. Boot-cut or straight-leg jeans, if you have the figure for it, skinny jeans can also be pulled off. Single-breasted and vent-less blazers. Sweaters in thin fabrics. Leather jacket, similar to those of motocross or bomber jackets. Finally, shoes and boots with a 1/2 or 1 inch heels.
- Skinny body types - Just as the large types, you can still be GQ. Although there are things skinny body types can do what the larger fellows can't, layering. When it comes to fall/winter wear layer on if you'd like. It not only keeps you warm but the style will project like no other. Skinny men also usually have sharper facial features so your grooming is as important as the type of clothes you put on. When you hit the barbershop (hopefully you have a personal barber or one you go to regularly), ask him or her to give you a cut that makes your jaw-line and cheek bones prominent in the look you are going for. Things to have in your wardrobe: Double-breasted blazers, Pinstripe suits (it really does compliment your figure), Crew-neck tees, Straight-leg or slim boot cut jeans, Single or double-button blazers, Vertically striped dress shirts (not horizontal), and even combat boots. The thing is trends always change so don't feel obligated to have each one of these in your wardrobe forever.
Doesn't matter if you are short, tall, fat, or skinny, there is always a style for you. Most importantly, it's always good to have a tailor. It's not as expensive as you think. At the same time, don't settle for cheap either. The best quality of clothing come from getting it from your tailor. Regardless the body type, your best bet is to find yourself a tailor, it really does make life a bit easier. Gentleman, it does take a huge effort in looking good. But once you get down your body type and understand what you should wear, the basics will sink in and all you will have to worry about are the styles and colors.
